I nodded and kept my eyes on him when he sat down. His jeans and t-shirt hugged his body in the best way and a memoryof him giving me oral sex and bringing me to a delicious climax made me avoid his direct gaze.
His brown eyes were intense as he watched me with a serious expression on his face. “I can prove to you that I’m telling the truth. But I warn you that the truth might be hard to swallow.”
Feeling intrigued, I waved a hand, gesturing for him to go ahead and tell me the truth then.
Malliko straightened up as he inhaled sharply and then let out a deep breath. “Please stay open-minded, Clara.”
I didn’t promise him anything.
“Tania isn’t my fiancée and that’s why it’s true when she said that we’re not in an open relationship. We’re not in a romantic relationship to begin with.”
Twisting my head, a little, I narrowed my eyes to show him I was skeptical.
“I’m not doing a PhD because I’m not a student.”
“So, you’re admitting that you lied to me? Are you an undercover cop or what are all these lies about?” I asked.
“No. Iamunder cover, but it’s not related to crime. The part about me researching human dating habits is true. But the thing is that I’m not human myself.”
At first, I stared at him and then my shoulders sank, and I rolled my eyes. He was insulting me by adding on more lies to cover the first one.
“I’m serious, Clara. I’m not human.”
“Then what are you? A panda in disguise?”
“No. I’m Eidron. We’re descended from the same people as humans, but I wasn’t born on this planet. Eidrona is my home planet.”
Raising my eyebrows, I dipped my chin. “Eidrona. I’ve never heard of a planet with that name.”
“You wouldn’t have as it’s not in your star system and I’m afraid human knowledge about the Universe is very limited.”
“I don’t believe in aliens,” I said a bit harshly and felt offended that he would mock me with an even bigger lie than the first one.
Malliko kept his tone level. “That doesn’t really matter. We exist whether you believe in us or not.”
“Okay then, prove it. Prove that you’re alien.”
“You can ask me anything about the Universe and I’ll know the answer.”
I shook my head. “My knowledge of the Universe isn’t sufficient for me to tell if you’re right.”
“Then ask me to speak any language in your world and I can do that. I have access to the database of the Federation and the material on humans is extensive.”
“Okay then, speak German.”
I listened as Malliko switched into what sounded like fluent German to me.
“Japanese?”
Again, he spoke and sounded very authentic. I asked him to speak five more languages and was fascinated with the way he switched as if it was nothing and then it hit me.
“Wait, are you one of those people they’re doing experiments on with computers in your brain?”
“No. I’m Eidron. Our minds work differently from yours. We’re capable of connecting to a greater collective and that’s why speaking different languages isn’t that hard for us. With my position as a researcher, I have access to data related to humans. It goes back further than your own recorded history.”
“Okay, so say I chose to believe you, then what about your looks? Are you a small green man in disguise or how did you come to look exactly like a human?”
“No, this is my natural form. Eidrons and humans look alike, but don’t get fooled by our physical appearance. We might bedescended from the same people, but on the inside, we’re very different.”
