Pulling my arm closer around her, Clara sighed, “It was out of this world.”
She couldn’t see my smile and I didn’t tell her how fitting her choice of words was.
CHAPTER 17
Meeting Tania
Clara
Leaving Malliko’s apartment, I felt like my feet barely touched the ground from my flying on a cloud.
How I got lucky enough to meet someone like Malliko, I would never know. I had read about random encounters that changed a person forever, and that’s how I felt about him.
It was like I had lived in a world where things were gloomy and depressing for so long that I had given up hope that anything good would ever come along.
Stopping by the elevator I was standing with a goofy smile on my lips when a woman came to stand next to me. At first, I didn’t notice her because I was so overwhelmed with what had just happened between Malliko and me that I was in my own thoughts.
When the doors opened and we entered the elevator, I pushed L for lobby and smiled at the woman before stepping back.
She didn’t smile but gave me a curious glance. I couldn’t help but notice that she looked familiar. “I’m sorry, but have I seen you before?” I asked.
She was one of those women who had the height and shape to wear anything and still look like a model.
“I’m not certain. What’s your name?”
“I’m Clara.”
“Hmm… I’m Tania.”
The second she said her name, the connection between the woman in front of me and the picture of Malliko and his fiancée was obvious.
“You’re Tania?” My tone was incredulous because her being here made no sense.
“Yes.”
“I’m sorry…” I blinked my eyes. “I’ve seen you in a photo with Malliko. You’re…” The instant pain in my stomach from the realization that he had lied to me hit me hard. “You’re his fiancée.”
She smiled. “You know Malliko?”
“Yes, he…” My brain was running in all directions as I freaked out mentally. If this woman knew that her fiancée had just given me oral sex, things would get very unpleasant. “He said that you live in Lichtenstein.”
Her eyebrow lifted up. “No. I live here.”
I was so confused. Surely, she hadn’t been in Malliko’s apartment.
The doors opened and we both exited but I wasn’t ready to end the conversation without getting answers. “When you say that you live here, do you mean that you live with Malliko? It’s just that I didn’t see you just now when I visited him.”
Pointing up, she explained. “We have adjacent apartments. I prefer it that way.”
“Okay, but…” The question burned on my tongue, and I needed to know. “Is it true that you are in an open relationship?”
“Noooo…” She laughed but then it seemed to sink in, what I had just said, and her face stiffened. “Wait, did he tell you that we’re in an open relationship?”
“Yes.” My hand went to my chest. I had been cheated on by my husband, and the thought that Malliko had used me to cheat on his fiancée made me physically ill. “I’m sorry,” I said. “I’m soso sorry. I… I would never have… I mean I didn’t know. I trusted him.”
Pulling me aside, Tania lowered her voice. “Did you sleep with him?”
“Oh, no.” I shook my head, but tears were forming in my eyes from the shock of how naïve I’d been.
