“I’m afraid the sofa is more like an oversized chair.” I gestured for her to take a seat.

“That’s fine. We’ll fit. Unlike you, I grew up in a house with limited space.”

Once we both sat down, I asked her, “Are you here to tell me the answer to my question?”

Linea raised her brow and widened her eyes. “You still aren’t sure if Freya is into men or women?”

“I’ve never seen her show an interest in any man so it’s impossible to tell, and today Holly hugged Freya at least three times. That can’t be normal, even for a Motlander.”

Linea looked down for a second before she met my eyes. “Thor, come on. It’s pretty obvious if you look for the signs.”

Placing my arm on the back of the sofa, I turned my body toward her. “If it’s so obvious to you then why didn’t you simply tell me when I first asked you?”

“Because I wanted to visit France.” Linea’s answer was straightforward and her smile so beautiful that my lips automatically lifted at the edges.

“You tricked me.”

“No. You asked the wrong questions and assumed some things that you shouldn’t have.”

“Fine, but then tell me if my suspicion is correct. Is Freya a lesbian?”

“She’s not.”

“Are you sure?”

“I can’t know if she would be open to a sexual experience with a woman, but I can tell you that she’s attracted to men.”

“Huh.”

Linea picked at the fabric of her pants. “I’ll bet Freya would have told you as much if you’d just asked.”

“I’m not asking my sister about her sexuality.”

We sat for a moment with her allowing me to absorb this new piece of information, before she asked, “Does it change anything?”

“To me it was never about her sexuality but the satisfaction of seeing my father’s reaction the moment the old man realized that a lesbian couple would rule the Northlands if he made Freya his heir. You have to admit that would be fucking ironic.”

As I laughed, Linea chuckled with me. It felt amazing to see her relaxed in my company.

“I’m happy you can see the humor in that situation, Thor, but I’m afraid that’s unlikely to happen. It’s sad, but the man she likes isn’t available.”

My laughter died. “What man? Wait, is there someone specific? Who is it?” I moved in my seat, eager to learn more.

“That’s not for me to tell you. Freya doesn’t know that I’m aware of her feelings for him, and I’m not in the market of revealing other people’s secrets.”

Tapping my fingers on the top of the couch, I asked. “Is this one of those things where you read her mind?”

“More like I picked up on the signs.”

My mind was spinning trying to figure out what man Linea was talking about. “Why isn’t the man available? Is he married?”

Linea shrugged and signaled that she couldn’t tell me.

“Fuck. It’s Indy, isn’t it? I know he’s charming, but that’s fucking awkward when he’s married to our cousin.”

“It’s not Indiana.”

“Are you sure?”
