CHAPTER3

Noah’s Wedding

Fleur

Ashford Castle was like something out of a fairytale. When Noah and River invited me to their wedding, I’d happily accepted, but it wasn’t until I arrived at the old castle, now turned into a massive, luxurious five-star hotel, that I understood what I was in for.

Noah had told me that River was a YouTube celebrity, but I had no idea that sharing fashion tips online would make someone wealthy enough to afford a wedding of this caliber.

The ceremony was beautiful and when Noah and River exchanged vows, I took my tears as a sign that the romantic inside me wasn’t as dead as I’d thought.

A buff-looking man around my age sat beside me and gave me a smile when I dried my eyes. Once the ceremony was over, he introduced himself as Liam.

“I’m Fleur. Are you a friend of the bride or groom?” I asked him.

“The bride. I play rugby with her brother Maximum.” Liam spoke with a strong Irish accent.

“Oh, that explains your physique.” I was referring to his broad shoulders.

Liam and I stood in a long line of people waiting to congratulate the couple outside the church.

“Ye’re Noah’s boss, aren’t ye?”

“I wouldn’t say that. Noah works on my farm in return for food, lodging, and training in animal communication. He’s working with our service dogs.”

“I’m surprised that River chose a man like him,” Liam said. “She used to only date celebrities and millionaires. I heard he was a police officer from Norway.”

“Yes. Noah worked on the canine unit, but if you knew him you wouldn’t be surprised that River picked him. He’s warm, intelligent, and has a great sense of humor. They’re good together.”

“I don’t doubt it.” Liam craned his head to see what was holding up the long line of people. “I just wonder how a normal guy from Norway is goin’ to feel about marryin’ into one of the wealthiest families in the world.”

“What do you mean?”

His head swung to me. “The Robertson family. They’re minted. You didn’t know?”

“No. I’ve met River’s parents and they were very nice. Her father is a lawyer and her mother works with criminal cases as an anthropologist.”

“I didn’t say they weren’t nice, but Charles is the owner of Solver Industries.”

“Never heard of it.”

“It’s a Fortune 500 company,” Liam informed me. “River’s brother Atlas is the CEO and her sister Lumi runs their finances or somethin’. I’ve only met them a few times, but besides Maximum and River, I’m also friends with Nathan. Have you met him?”

“Who’s he?”

“Their brother and the lucky bastard who married Serena Star. They’re over there.”

I followed his discreet nod in the direction of the church doors, where a handsome couple were talking with Saffron and Maximum.

“Is that Serena Star, the actress?”

“Yes. You’d see her face better if she wasn’t wearin’ that large hat.”

“Does Nathan play rugby as well? He looks strong.”

“Naw, Nathan is a fighter. Right now, he does pro bono work, teachin’ women self-defense.”

“How noble of him.”
