“Me too,” Nathan chimed in. “This family meeting is a bit much. Who wants to shoot some pool?”
“But what about Conor’s mom and dad? I’d like to know the story about why she was single and who he was,” Fleur said, but people were already getting up from their chairs. and just like that, we split into groups with some staying downstairs while others went upstairs to talk and hang out.
My head was about to explode so Fleur and I went outside to get some fresh air.
“I’m sorry about all that.”
Fleur rose up on her toes and put her arms around my neck. “You have nothing to feel sorry about. I adore your family. They’re perfectly imperfect, just like you and me.”
“You think?”
“All those issues and flaws make me feel right at home.”
“So, you’re not scared off?”
“No, far from it. If anything, I’m realizing that I’ve fallen deeply in love with you.”
Lifting her chin with my finger, I smiled. “Say that again.”
“I’m in love with you, Maximum.”
“Again.”
Her pretty eyes narrowed. “Now, you’re making me think Jolene was right. You really don’t think you’re enough, do you?”
“Am I?”
Her face softened and her hold around my waist tightened. “You’ve always been enough.”
