“To go camping in a safari park with wild animals.”
“I told you that was part of the plan.”
“I know, and it sounded exciting, but now that we’re here, I’m starting to wonder if this was a stupid idea. What if you’re right and the lions really attacked and murdered those poachers? I’d like to get back in one piece to my friends and family.”
“The lions didn’t attack the poachers without reason, they defended themselves. Since we come in peace, we won’t be in danger.”
“But we’ll stay in the car, right?”
“For now.” I smiled and pointed ahead. “Just stay on this trail. They’re showing me water and I’m being pulled in this direction.”
“All right, you’re the psychic.”
“I’m not a psychic. That would imply I could foresee the future, but I’m afraid I’m not that gifted.”
“A medium then.”
“I’m not a medium either. I don’t talk to spirits or angels. What I do is different. I use telepathy to communicate with non-humans, and you could too if you opened up to it. Tribal people do it all the time; it’s just that most modern people aren’t plugged in.”
We’d been driving for over half an hour before a pond showed up to our right. Maximum had been quiet, but he parked the car in the place I pointed to and got out to look around.
“So far so good,” he said and scanned the area like he was worried a lion was waiting to jump him.
I closed my eyes and lifted my face to the sky, reaching out to the animals with a vibration of love and peace followed by a message that I’d come to help them.
As I stood in my untroubled flow of energy a wave of unease hit me. I wondered if it was coming from an animal but no, as I opened my eyes, the source became clear. “Maximum.”
“Yes?” His eyes were still scanning the area while he stood with his hands on his hips as if showing whatever predator might be lurking that he wouldn’t be easy prey.
Walking over to stand in front of him, I held out my hands until he took them. “You have to relax and trust me.”
“Mhmm.”
“Look at me.”
Maximum’s strikingly hazel eyes landed on me and at that moment I felt strong. He might be physically superior with his height and strength, but right now he was out of his comfort zone and nervous, while I felt at ease.
“Take a deep breath and enjoy that you’re here. This is where the fun begins.”
“Hunting for bones of dead people is fun to you?”
I shrugged. “You wanted an adventure, didn’t you?”
“Right.” He squeezed my hands and inhaled sharply. “I just can’t stop thinking about what you said about the lions eating the poachers.”
“Okay, but do you remember what I said about the sharks and the surfers?”
“Yes.”
“It’s the same thing with the lions. They pick up the poachers’ intention to hunt and kill as telepathic wavelengths.”
Maximum took another deep breath, trying to calm his nerves as he listened to me.
“Here’s what’s going to happen. We’ll unpack the roof tent and make camp here. Then you and I are going to build a fire and take some time to calibrate with nature.”
“What do you mean by calibrate? Isn’t that something printers do?”
“It just means to tune into nature. There is a rhythm out here, like a heartbeat, and we’re going to relax and calibrate our energy with that of this lovely place. The animals know we’re here and they might come to greet us tonight, or they might wait until tomorrow or the next day. Animals aren’t ruled by a clock. The most important part is that when they show themselves, I want you to be calm and appreciative. Can you do that?”
