“I don’t know. There’s a possibility Maximum will scare him off when he gets home, but if not, I’m figuring Pierre is hoping to stay for a few days. It’s a long trip from South Africa and he typically doesn’t have much money for hotels. I haven’t really talked to him yet.”
Just then the door to the bathroom opened and Pierre stepped out and approached us.
“Pierre, this is Kate. She’s my best student and is as good an animal communicator as me.”
“No one is as good as you,” Kate said and for the first time I saw her cheeks flash red.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Pierre.”
“What a nice accent you have. Are you French?”
“Yes, but I’ve lived in South Africa for more than fifteen years.”
“Look, Pierre, I have to check up on one of my goats, but Kate can show you around if you want to see the place. If you treat her really nicely, she might teach you some of what she knows.” Pointing to the fridge, I added, “If you’re hungry there’s some left-over pasta from last night.”
“I could eat.”
“Do you want me to warm it for you?” Kate asked Pierre as I closed the door behind me and headed for Buck, the cheeky goat.
