“Let me talk to Kate and Patrick. They’re the best ones we have at the moment. He’s been with me before and loved it so much he has come back for another four months. I’ll mention the possibility to see if they’re interested. If not, I have a bunch of previous students that I can reach out to.”

When we sat happy and feeling sated from dinner and dessert, Noah squeezed River’s hand on top of the table and smiled. “It all feels a little surreal sometimes.”

“What does?” I asked.

“That the beautiful woman I met in a marketplace in Bali a little over a year ago is now my wife and carrying our child. That I live in Ireland now, and that Fleur Linden is no longer someone whose work I admire from a distance. She’s become a mentor, friend, and will soon be my sister in-law. It feels like I’m surfing and catching all the perfect waves right now.”

River kissed Noah’s cheek while I picked up my glass and leaned back looking at him.

“You know what’s funny about that? That day we met you in the marketplace I remember you asking if I knew Fleur.”

Fleur turned her head to Noah. “Why? I didn’t even know you a year ago.”

“I don’t remember asking that.”

“It was when you found out that I was from Ireland. Your first question was if I knew Fleur Linden. I remember you said that she was quite famous, but I’d never heard of her. Do you realize what that means?”

“No.” Noah’s brows lowered like he was trying to guess my thoughts.

“It means that within a few moments of you two meeting for the first time, I heard the name of the woman I would come to love. It just seems like fate was having fun at that marketplace that day.”

“To fate!” River raised her glass.

“To fate,” we all cheered while smiling widely.
