Indiana and Aubri each had a gun, and Indiana was tapping his weapon against his knee with an impatient expression on his face.

“There’s the lake,” Aubri said and placed a hand against the window as if she could reach out and get there faster.

“Banni, remember what we said. Leave Keith to Aubri and me. You focus on Sparrow and we’ll take him down.”

I gave a somber nod.

“Hmm…” Indiana grunted. “I don’t like this. There’s too much smoke for a normal chimney. Something is burning.”

“Is it the cabin?” Aubri asked but in that moment we all saw a small cabin that looked untouched.

“The fire is coming from the lake. How is that possible?” I asked.

“Maybe there’s an island in the middle of the lake or it’s a boat burning.”

“Do we go to the cabin first or the fire?” Aubri asked.

“The fire. I want to know what’s burning,” I ordered as if I was still their boss.

Indiana changed the flight mode to manual and steered the drone straight to the lake.

Using my brain implant, I changed my sight to long distance and zoomed in on the burning object. “It’s a boat or a raft of some kind. Wait, I’m seeing movement.Merde!”

“Is it Sparrow?” Aubri’s voice was shrill. “Do you see her?”

“I can’t tell yet, but I’m seeing movement.” I focused in again and the closer we got the better I could see. “I’m seeing a man forcing a woman down. Now he’s on top of her.”

“Is that swine raping Sparrow?” Aubri cried out.

“In the middle of a fire? That can’t be right. How sick is that bastard?” Indiana exclaimed.

I couldn’t make sense of it myself and ordered, “Indy, you gotta get the drone above the boat so I can jump.”

“Are you gonna jump into the fire?”

I didn’t hesitate before I answered. “If Sparrow is in there, we need to get her out.”

Aubri was silently watching out the window. With my better vision I could tell more clearly what was going on.

“He’s on top of her. Her mouth is open and she’s screaming.” A long string of French curses escaped me when I saw her hair burst aflame.

“What’s happening,” Aubri screamed.

“She’s on fire.” My heart was beating out of my chest and sweat was running down my spine as I stared at what I knew would be in my nightmares for the rest of my life.

“Indiana!” Aubri screamed in sheer panic.

“I’m pushing the machine as much as I can,” he roared while perspiration ran down his stone-pale face.

Just then Aubri got an incoming call and when she answered she simply shouted, “She’s here… cabin seventeen. He’s burning her alive!”
