“Nooo.” She looked horrified before stepping a little closer with her eyes fixed on my brown hair. “That would be a shame. With your thickness and length, you could have a number of wicked haircuts. Do you mind?” She lifted her hands to my hair but didn’t touch.
I was breathless from her closeness and studied her beautiful face.
“Noah?”
“Mhmm?” I’d been staring at her lips but now met her questioning eyes.
“Can I touch your hair?”
“Sure.”
Her hands were touching me. Maybe not the part of me that I would most want her to touch, but River was so close that I could feel her breath on my skin, and it made my heart beat uncontrollably.
“You should get it cut really tight to your sides here and leave length on the top.” Her hands brushing along my temples and scalp made me want to close my eyes and purr like a freaking cat.
“Where are you getting it cut?”
“I don’t know. As I said, I was just gonna go find a place with a buzz cutter.”
When she lowered her hands and stepped back, I felt the need to reach out and pull her back to me.
“Tell you what. Let me go with you. If we can’t find a decent place, maybe we can find a place where they’ll let me cut your hair.”
“You know how to cut hair?”
“Yes, I’m good at it. One of my best friends is a hair stylist and she taught me how. I’m not just tossing random ideas around on my YouTube channel. I’ve literally studied beauty and fashion since I was twelve-years old and worked hard to become a fashion trendsetter with a large following.”
“I’m impressed.”
“Thank you. I live and breathe fashion, but my true love is actually art.”
“As in paintings and sculptures?”
“Yes. This might surprise you, but I have a university degree in art history.” River smiled at me. “Now, would you let me give you a makeover?”
This time, I was the one to step a little closer and place my left hand lightly on her hip. “Is there a chance you might like me better if I say yes?”
Her eyes widened slightly, and then she spun with a flustered grin, walking away from me. “Only one way to find out. Come on, Viking.”
