Several of them looked to Liv and Charles, but he held up both hands, gesturing that it wasn’t him, and Liv spoke to Kit. “We offered, but you said that you wouldn’t feel comfortable accepting the money.”

“Exactly, so who decided to take care of the bill while we were in here partying?”

“It wasn’t me,” Atlas said.

Serena bit her lip. “Nathan and I gave you a gift card for a dream honeymoon, but we didn’t pay for the wedding.”

“Then who was it?”

All eyes swung to Maximum.

“Don’t look at me. I do charity work for orphans. Kit and Owen don’t qualify for my sort of philanthropy. Did you do it, River?”

River shook her head. “Nooo.”

“Then it has to be you two.” Kit turned to Lumi and Damian.

They stared at each other. “Was it you?” Damian asked Lumi but she solemnly denied it.

Kit placed her hands on her hips. “It must be one of ye lot because the rest of our guests are struggling to pay their own bills. One of you needs to confess.”

“I think Lumi did it,” Serena said. “You’re her new sister-in-law, so that would be a nice gesture.”

“It’s not me,” Lumi said with a frown. “If it was, I’d have no problem admitting it.”

Owen and Kit stood speechless.

“Maybe there was a mistake?” Charles suggested.

“No, I went to tell the staff that I’d settle the bill after breakfast tomorrow, but he told me one of the guests already paid the remaining eighty percent. Kit and I only paid twenty percent as a deposit.”

“That’s strange.” Liv looked around at the Robertson group. “If we didn’t do it, then who did?”

The mystery remained, and when River and I finally went to bed, she still had no idea.

“What a beautiful wedding.” She sighed and turned to me in the bed. “Don’t you think?”

“Yes.”

“How are weddings in Norway?”

“Similar. We drink, eat, hold celebratory speeches, and dance.”

“Are you celebrating Christmas in Norway?”

Her question was sort of random, but I shook my head. “No, not this year. My mom and stepdad booked a cruise with some friends, so I’ll stay in Ireland.”

It touched my heart how River lit up. “Does that mean we can celebrate Christmas together?”

“I don’t see why not.”

She stretched her arms upon her pillow and smiled. “My family already loves you, so they’ll be excited if you join us. Everyone will be there this year.”

“You have a cool family.”

“I know.”

“You’re not scared that this thing between us is moving too fast?”
