I gave a quick nod. “Let me just pay for the drinks, and then I’ll follow you.”

“You’ll need this for the elevator.” Serena picked up her small purse and pulled out a keycard. “I have two. Top floor, turn right, and it’s at the end of the hall.”

I nuzzled my nose against hers. “I’ll be there in a few minutes.”

Sliding out from the booth, I let her leave with a smoldering smile lingering between us.

My pulse was still racing, and the front of my pants was showing the mental state I was in. Sitting back down, I lifted my hand, gesturing to the waiter that I wished to pay.

He gave a single nod in understanding.

As I waited for him to bring my check, I looked for Kit, but a group of men was now in the place she’d been when I last saw her. Pulling out my phone, I texted her.

Nathan: Did you get it?

Kit: Yes! Good work.

I should be pleased, but instead a foul taste spread in my mouth. Obviously, relationships didn’t mean much to Serena, but they did to me. I couldn’t understand how Serena could break up my sister and Storm, say yes to Storm’s proposal, and then kiss me. Her sense of morals had to be extremely low, and that should make it easier for me to teach her a lesson. But there was something innocent and likable about Serena that made me resist hurting her.

Nathan: I’m taking her for a stroll through Temple Bar.

Kit: Want me to take pictures?

Nathan: No need. The kiss should do it, don’t you think?

Kit: I believe so. Storm will be pissed!

I was putting my phone away when it vibrated again.

Kit: If you got what you came for, why take her to Temple Bar?

My forehead filled with frown lines as I ran a hand through my hair. Kit had a point. I looked to the exit and wondered if I should just leave now, but the keycard Serena gave me burned in my hand.

I wasn’t sure what my exact motive for staying was. Maybe I wanted to do something nice to counteract the ugliness of our revenge plot, or perhaps I simply wanted more time with Serena.

Underneath my anger at her for hurting my sister, there was a strong attraction, and if I was honest, no woman had caught my interest since I met Serena.

I settled my bill and walked to the lift, checked my hair in the mirror, and got out on the top floor where I took a right to Serena’s room.
