But my heart was racing, my head was spinning, and my blood was boiling with anger that he thought he could hijack my story and take it to a place it was never meant to go. My eyes fell to a random page of his writing and again, I read the words.

“I’m not judging you for having no experience. I’m just saying that I’m willing to teach you.”

Dea looked down at the book which Mark had just given her. “Kama Sutra,” she read aloud. “What is this?” As she spoke, her fingers caressed the old book with the beautiful wrapping and a soft smile spread on her pretty face. “How old is this? I can’t accept a gift this precious.”

“But I thought you loved books.”

“I do! But…”

“Open it.” Mark studied her with anticipation and broke into a laugh at the expression on Dea’s face when she flipped the book open to a random page and saw images of a couple having sex.

“Is this a joke?” She turned a few more pages but each side showed a picture of the couple in a sexual position with a title and a description.

“No, it’s not a joke.Kama Sutrais an ancient book from when sex between men and women was considered beautiful and sacred. It teaches about making love in a multitude of positions.”

To his surprise, Dea kept flicking the pages, taking in the variations of sex.

“Whoa.”

He was amused by her reaction to one of the illustrations of a woman under a man. “Yeah, she’s pretty flexible.”

“It looks painful with the way he forces her legs up to her ears.”

“What makes you think he forces her? Maybe she likes it that way.”

Meeting his eyes, Dea arched an eyebrow. “Tell you what, why don’t you get down on the floor and try seeing how being in that position feels to you.”

“Nah, everyone knows women are softer and more flexible than men. Look, his role is to be on top of her.”

“Tsk.” She smacked her tongue. “What you’re saying is that you couldn’t do it.”

“I doubt you could either. Women back then were used to having sex, but if you’re right that women gave up on sex after the Toxic War then it probably wouldn’t be fair to compare you to them.” He shrugged with a smile. “That’s the thing about evolution, it gets rid of redundant things so I bet you modern women are left with dried-out and inflexible bodies.”

His words provoked Dea. “Are you saying I’m dried-out and stiff?”

“I don’t know. Are you?” The prolonged eye contact between them made her heart race and she refused to look away.

“You want to see if you could do what she does?” Angling his head, Mark added, “With your clothes on, of course.”

“Nice try, but I’m not going to get into acrobatic sexual positions to prove that I’m as much woman as my ancestors were.”

“All right. It was just an offer.” Reaching in and turning the pages, Mark settled on another one. “Maybe this one is more to your skill level.”

In the illustration the woman was on her back with her legs spread while the man had his head buried between her legs.

With a loud sound, Dea closed the book and handed it back to Mark. “Thank you for your gift, but I can’t accept it.”

His eyebrows drew close together. “Don’t be silly. The book is only part of my gift.” Pressing the book back against her chest, he lowered his voice. “The real gift is that I’ll let you pick out any of the one hundred and one positions in that book and let you try them on me.”

She opened her mouth to protest and tell him he was out of his mind, but her curiosity created a funny tingling sensation that ran down between her thighs and made her close her mouth again.

“Any position you’d like!” he repeated with a wicked gleam in his eyes.

Just like Deidra in the story, my heart was racing fast too. Why would Tyton write me sensual stuff like this unless… Was this his way of making me an offer himself?

I had written and torn apart several responses to him, but with my hands shaking and my foot tapping it was hard to get it right.

Sleep on it!
