My head snapped up. “He does?”
“He loves my dimples, my hair, my singing voice, and he thinks I’m pretty.”
“He told you that?”
“Yes,” Mila said as if it wasn’t a big thing. “I tell him nice things too.”
“Like what?”
“That I like his eyes, and his smile.”
“Me too.”
“I also like it when he picks me up and swings me through the air.” With her elbow on the table, Mila rested her chin in her hand and gave a wistful sigh. “I really wanted Magni to be my father.”
“He wanted that too, Mila.”
She gave me a sideways glance. “He wants to have children with you.”
“I know.”
“Did you know that he wants to name your boy Mason after the first ruler in the Northlands?”
“No.”
“Magni likes that name.”
This was something my sister and I had talked about since we were little girls and I smiled. “I’ve always known that if I have a girl I’ll name her Aubri.”
“That’s pretty. And if it’s a boy?”
I squeezed her hand. “Sounds like Magni already picked out the name Mason.”
Mila and I sat in a small bubble when Kya called for a break. “You have half an hour to play. It’s a beautiful day so put on your jackets and go outside.”
“Who wants to play hide and seek?” one of the boys called out and Mila’s head turned.
“I do.”
“Have fun,” I said and waved back when she ran out the door to play with the other children.
“She’s sweet, isn’t she?” Kya came to sit on a desk next to me.
“Adorable. If I ever have a daughter, I would want her to be like Mila.”
Kya placed a hand on her belly. “Mila is very interested in my pregnancy. When we told the children, she was the first to ask if she could babysit when the baby is born.”
“That’s nice.”
Finn came in with Athena. He was throwing an apple from hand to hand.
“How did it go?” I asked. “What did Wrestler think of Tristan?”
“It went well, why wouldn’t it? Tristan is my son. He can charm anyone.”
Athena gave Kya a hug and sat down next to her on the table. “Wrestler said he would think about it. He was a little skeptical when he learned that Tristan has grown up in the Motherlands.”
“Wrestler told you that?”
