“I don’t understand.”
“I’m not sure I do either.” He rubbed his forehead. “Except that entering her energy field was effortless to me. Like I belonged there.”
“So?”
“So, I spoke to Onava about it and told her how I was worried about Chloe having no energetic boundaries.”
“Yeah?”
“But Ona had already spent a whole day with Chloe and she didn’t have the same experience.”
“What, with the energy thing?”
“Yes, Ona had felt Chloe’s energy and didn’t recognize my experience of meeting no energetic boundaries at all.”
“I don’t understand.”
“I know, because it’s strange and intangible, but it made me think that maybe there’s a reason that she has no boundaries to me. Maybe I’m meant to be close to her and she to me.”
I didn’t know what to say and then Adam turned in his seat to face me. “When I met you on New Year’s Eve I did an experiment.”
“What kind of experiment?”
“I needed to know if it would be the same with you. Because you’re her twin.”
“Okay.” I moved nervously in my seat.
“Do you remember when I sat next to you and you let me admire your wristband?”
“Yes,” I said because I did recall seeing Adam and Faith sitting closely together during the evening.
“Remember how I held your wrist while admiring the jewelry?”
“Uh-huh.”
“I was feeling your energy and it wasn’t the same as Chloe’s at all. I know there were distractions and people around us, but I couldn’t connect to you like I can to Chloe.”
“So are you saying there’s a spiritual connection between you and her?”
“I thought so, and thenthatnight we made love for the first time.” He turned his head and looked out the window. “I shouldn’t be telling you all of this.”
“It’s okay, Chloe already told me.”
He sighed. “You tell each other everything?”
“More or less.”
“What else did she tell you about me?”
“That she was in love with you and you broke her heart.”
“But I didn’t. She did that to herself,” he said in frustration.
“I know.”
“Do you know how serious she is with that other guy?”
“Who, Liam?”
