“Did you sayherplane?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Wow, I want my own plane too. Ask her to invite you and your friends to Hawaii or something!”
I laughed. “Dream on, and say hi to the others for me.”
Two minutes later I stood leaning against the black limo with Chloe beaming like the sun next to me. As soon as the plane had landed and her sister came out, Chloe spread her arms and screamed: “Surprise!”
It was a bit eerie to see a second Chloe come down the stairs. They really looked identical.
After long hugs between them Chloe introduced us.
“Faith, this is Adam, who is Onava’s nephew and a healer too.”
“Nice to meet you.” Faith reached her hand to me and smiled warmly. “I’m a big fan of Onava'.”
“Thank you, it’s nice to meet you too,” I said politely and smiled back.
“And this is Logan, Faith’s roommate,” Chloe added and pointed to a blond man who stood next to Faith.
“Hello,” I said and shook his hand. Logan was my height and had a strong firm grip. The scarring on his face and neck were significant, but I had seen worse in my healing group for people with PTSD.
“Actually,” Faith said with a smile. “Logan is more than my roommate now.”
“What?” Chloe’s eyes expanded. “What happened?”
Faith and Logan exchanged a glance and Faith started grinning. “We fell in love is what happened.”
“So that’s why you’re practically glowing,” Chloe said and looked a little stunted. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I’m telling you now.”
I instantly liked Faith; at least one of the sisters wasn’t blinded by superficial beauty and glamour.
“Well, congratulations, then,” Chloe said and smiled at them both. “And how was Scotland?”
“Amazing. I’m in love with the people and nature there. Everyone is so down-to-earth and funny.” Faith’s eyes were sparkling as she told Chloe about her trip.
“And Logan’s family is so nice, and both his brothers really want to meet you.”
“Really? How old are your brothers?” Chloe asked.
“Andrew is a year older, so thirty, and Derek is twenty-seven.”
While we were talking, the driver had placed the luggage in the trunk and was now opening the doors for us to get in.
“So why didn’t you bring your brothers to meet me?”
“Och, they’ll come soon enough to visit us.”
“Tell you what. Why don’t you call them up and let me say hi?” Chloe suggested as we all took a seat in the spacious limousine.
“Yes, call Andrew. I bet he wouldn’t know what to say if my sister called him.” Faith laughed. “He was so sneaky and kept speaking with the thickest brogue so I wouldn’t understand anything. And then when he took us to the airport he leaned in and spoke to me with a clear British accent. God, I felt so stupid.”
Logan’s lips pursed up and he pulled out his phone. “All right, let me put it on speaker.”
Chloe moved close to Logan, and it amused me to see the three of them looking like naughty schoolchildren about to pull a prank.
