He shot a proud smile at her back. “It takes someone strong and special to carry that burden, but that’s Violet for you.”

As soon as they’d left, Adam whispered in my ear. “Can we leave too?”

His hand snaking down my behind and his hot breath on my neck made me want to purr with delight.

“I would like that,” I whispered and scouted for Darren to get my phone back. By now Darren was leaning against a wall and just speaking with Liam.

“I just have to say goodbye to the others and save Liam before we go,” I told my gorgeous boyfriend and left him with a kiss full of promises of good things to follow.

After hugging Christian, Melody, Faith, and Logan goodbye and agreeing that we should all hang out again soon, I took a stand in front of Darren and held out my palm, signaling for him to give me back my phone.

“Oh-oh, your ex wants her phone back,” Darren told Liam with a pout.

“I’m sorry,” I said loudly. “Liam, has Darren been bothering you?” Since Darren didn’t want to hand over the phone I had to wiggle it out of his hands.

Liam had a huge smile on his face. “Not at all. I was enjoying myself. He’s very entertaining.”

“See,” Darren mimed.

“Well, in that case, I’m sorry for breaking up your bromance, but Adam and I are leaving now so I need my phone.”

“Ask if I can have his number,” Darren pleaded.

“Darren is going to text you his number from my phone and then you can choose to contact him if you want to, but I really have to leave now, so I’m hanging up.”

“Okay, talk to you later, Cleo,” Liam said.

“Bye now.”

I hung up and handed Darren the phone. “Here, text him your phone number if you want to.”

“If I want to,” he muttered as if the question was redundant.

“What did you two talk about for so long anyway?” I asked.

Darren caught a strand of his curly blond hair and spiraled it between his fingers with a dreamy smile. “Art, poetry, and movies we loved as children.” He sighed. “I never thought I would get into bed with Liam Ladnier.”

“What are you talking about?” I laughed.

“Technically he was in his bed and he was talking to me on a phone, so I was there with him,” Darren insisted.

“Ahh… but he was in his bed in LA and you were here in Seattle. I don’t think that qualifies as being in the same bed.”

“Semantics.” He waved a hand. “Doesn’t matter, those twenty minutes were the highlight of my life. Liam is the most attractive man in the world, don’t you think?”

“Ehh… nope. I think that’s Adam.”

Darren looked over at Adam, who stood with Christian and Logan. “Yes, he does come close, I’ll admit. But I don’t think we would have much in common, to be honest. Not like me and Liam.”

I rolled my eyes. “You’re impossible, Darren. You chase every man you see.”

“I do not,” he said, offended. “I just like to mess with straight men, especially if their girlfriends are around.”

“Admit it, you would happily have sex with any of the men who were here tonight.”

“Oh, for sure,” he said with a nod. “But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t rather be in a loving and committed relationship.”

“As in amonogamousrelationship?” I asked incredulously.
