Chapter 7
Archer~
The week has been seven nights of unbridled sex, and I still felt like I couldn’t get enough of the woman.
I was so screwed.
Every night has been filled with every dirty thing I’ve ever wanted to do to a woman, and everything Sia’s never let a man to do her, and it was addicting as hell.
The only problem?
The days have been exactly the same as before Sia had come into my life. I left her apartment in the mornings, went to work, did my thing, shut down shop, went upstairs to shower, eat, and handle bills or whatever, and didn’t show up at Sia’s until around eight in the evening.
And I didn’t like it.
Apart from the obvious, where I attacked her as soon as she let me into her apartment, we didn’t talk about our day, our families, our friends, our hobbies, nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
Hell, we’d barely gotten around to exchanging phone numbers on Wednesday when I damn near had to beg for the courtesy. Sia had genuinely believed there was no need to exchange numbers, but when I had cited some lame ass emergency reasons, she had conceded.
So, now it was six on a Friday evening, and I was knocking on her front door. Sia was expected at my house at around eight, but I decided to switch things up a bit.
Though I couldn’t make out the conversation, I heard her voice on the other side of the door and knew she was home. I only prayed someone wasn’t in there with her or shit could get ugly.
When the door swung open, in addition to the surprise on her face, I noticed she was holding her phone up to her ear. She opened the door to let me in, cupped the phone, and mouthed ‘sorry’. I kissed the side of her head and gave her a quick nod to let her know it was fine.
“But it’s Christmas,” she said into the phone, and I didn’t want to eavesdrop, but it was hard not to. Her apartment really was small. Plus, she wasn’t making a bid for privacy, so I didn’t feel all that bad about it. “What’s a little snow? It’s not-” She let out a sigh. “Dad, I-” Another sigh. “Of course, I don’t want to get stranded in a snowstorm on Christmas, but I think you’re exaggerating. I-” This time, Sia’s head dropped back, and she closed her eyes. “So, I’ll just find a motel if it gets-” The sounds of defeat were loud and clear when she said, “Okay, Dad...I know…I love you, too.” She hung up, and she looked a bit dejected, and I didn’t like it.
“Problems?”
“My dad-” And then she caught herself. This would be a personal conversation, and Sia was steering clear of those. “What are you doing here?” she asked, instead.
“You first,” I insisted. Though it was none of my business, I had to push this if I didn’t want her walking Christmas morning.
She cocked her head and speared me with a look, but she complied. “I had plans to drive up north to spend Christmas with my parents, but a snowstorm advisory had my dad calling me to tell me to stay home.”
The man in me agreed with her dad. “I get Christmas is important for family, but better safe than sorry.”
Her face softened. “I know,” she agreed. “It’s just…I don’t get to see my parents often, so I was looking forward to it. Especially, since the firm will be closed the Thursday and Friday following Christmas Day. It would have been a nice trip.”
There was so much I could say to that, but I decided to get to the point of dropping by unannounced. She was still in her work clothes, so I said, “Get your coat on.”
Sia grinned. “For what?”
“Since you’ll be at my house for the next few days, we’re going Christmas tree shopping,” I told her.
Her grin turned into a smile. “Seriously?”
I nodded. “I have a few gifts for my employees and a couple of close friends that I can put underneath the tree.”
“A real tree or a fake tree?” she asked, and my stupid chest thumped with how happy she seemed.
“Your choice.”
“Do you have Christmas lights and decorations?” I shook my head. “Then let’s pick a small fake one this year that comes already decorated, and next year, we’ll get a real one.” Sia’s excitement was so much that I was positive she had no clue as to what she just implied.
“Deal,” I quickly agreed. “Now, pack a bag and let’s go, babe.”
