Chapter 16
Gideon~
Iwas pretty sure I was in over my head.
That’s why I was over at Sayer’s with Nathan, and if that didn’t show my level of desperation, I didn’t know what would.
I was seeking advice from these two idiots.
After I had moved half of my damn wardrobe into Echo’s spare bedroom, we had finally gotten to that shower, where I had violated the hell out of her tight, warm pussy. After that, I’d drug her to the bedroom, where I had continued to do all manner of dirty shit to the woman.
But she hadn’t protested.
Even when I had bent her over and rimmed that tight ass of hers, she hadn’t objected. Echo had moaned deeper and it had given me hope for what else she’d let me do to her there. That was the only thing that had gone unexplored Monday night, but if I had it my way, it wouldn’t be for long. Echo was a fucking hellcat in bed, and I knew that would be just as explosive as the rest of it has been.
Nathan and I had been putting in full days since Monday, Dad holding down the fort at work, and we were almost done. Tomorrow, we’ll be able to set the tile and carpet, and that would leave all weekend for the grout to solidify, and hopefully be able to move her into her bedroom Sunday afternoon. She started work on Monday, even though school didn’t officially start for kids for another two weeks, and I wanted everything ready for her. I didn’t want her worrying about work and home.
And while I would rather be at home with Echo riding my dick, she had kicked me out of her house, insisting I let her go grocery shopping. She had claimed that Nate and I had eaten her refrigerator bare, so instead of looking like a pussy-whipped wiener, I had pretended I had shit to do, too.
So, now I was spending my Thursday evening swapping tender emotions and quality time with my brothers.
“Dude, you are such a fucking asshole,” Nate remarked. “No wonder she looked like she wanted to stab you in the heart when she showed up at her place on Monday.” I’d just finished telling them all about meeting Echo that Friday night, to helping her move in, to now.
“I mean, I thought Nate was arrogant, but damn, Gid,” Sayer chimed in.
“It was an honest mistake,” I defended. “You know how Mom is.”
“You mean, how she’s batshit crazy?” Nathan said. “You mean, how she’s like that?”
“Quit talking about Mom like that,” I growled.
Sayer let out a deep breath. “Look, I love Mom,” he started. “I mean, the woman gave me life and kept me alive all those years until I could finally do that for myself. But Gideon, denial is no place to live.”
Leta was tutoring after school, and Monroe was over at her best friend’s house, so it was just us three assholes here, so it was safe to talk freely.
“The pointis,”I cut in, “that it was a perfectly understandable assumption that Echo had been a set-up by Mom.”
“Beeecaaaussse…” Nathan led.
“Shhhheeee’s baaatsshiiiitttt cccraaazzyyy?” Sayer finished for him.
I flipped them both off.
I’d die before I ever uttered those words to these two fools, no matter how so very true they were.
Mom really was batshit crazy.
Having mercy, Sayer got back to the subject at hand. “Okay, so you were a dick of epic proportions, but it seems like she forgave you, right?”
“Yeah,” Nathan added. “So, what’s the problem?”
“The problem is that I’ve only known the woman a week, and I have practically half my stuff at her house already,” I told them. “Don’t you think that’s moving too fast?” I shrugged a shoulder. “I’ve never come across someone like her before, and I’m kind of just winging it.”
Nathan chuckled sympathetically. “Dude, you’re asking the wrong guy,” he replied. “I fell in love with Andrea almost immediately. Sure, letting her only child choose football as his favorite sport over baseball had been a crushing blow, but love is love.”
“Don’t forget hockey,” I reminded him just because, sometimes, Nate was a dick.
He cocked his head. “I hope she realizes she can do better and leaves your ass,” he fired back.
