I wanted to laugh at her declaration, but I didn’t dare. I still had my cock inside her and I knew how she felt about my laughing. And my smile. So, I just wrapped my arms around her and brought her as close to me as possible. “Sophia, that’s not possible,” I told her. “I waited all my life for you. There is no way in hell another woman will ever grab my attention. It’s just not possible.” And it wasn’t. Even without my brothers’ bouts with love at first sight, I knew Sophia was the one for me.
Chapter 19
Sophia~
Tuesday at work had been surprisingly…normal. There hadn’t been any whispers about Michael’s…uh, display of passion in his office. There hadn’t been any whispers about me going home sick, although Katrina did stink-eye me when she had passed me in the hallway first thing in the morning. There also hadn’t been any Buchanan sightings on my floor. I didn’t know if it was because they were giving me some room to breathe, or if they were just busy. Either way, I was happy to not have had to face any of them. I was still embarrassed no matter how much Michael had tried to reassure me that they weren’t thinking ill of me.
“God, baby,” Michael’s breath danced across my…uh, comfy stomach. “I don’t know how I manage to stay away from you during the day.” His hand skimmed across my stomach and over my right breast until he was cradling it like a freakin’ new born. “I want to set up a desk for you in my office so I can just have at you whenever I want.
I hadn’t been home an hour when Michael showed up at my door and dragged me into the bedroom. Chores, errands, dinner-all of it forgotten as Michael stripped me out of my clothes and proceeded doing those naked things he promised we’d keep doing.
Now we laid in my bed, naked and spent, and I don’t know about him, but feeling oh so good. I had my hand buried in his hair, lightly scratching his scalp. “You’re in charge of all of HR, Michael,” I reminded him. “You can’t just be…doing inappropriate things like that at work.”
He rolled his beautiful green eyes at me. “I know for a fact at that Gabriel, Mason and Aiden are inappropriate a few times a day at work with the girls. Don’t talk to me about inappropriateness, woman.”
I couldn’t stop my grin. He truly was ridiculous. “Your brothers are not in charge of theHuman Resourcesdepartment. And, besides, they’re getting it on with their wives, Michael, not…not women who aren’t their wives.”God, I sounded stupid.
Michael raised his head and crawled over my body until he was covering me, supporting all his weight on his elbows. He brushed my hair back from me face. Nothing had ever felt better than Michael’s body covering mine. He felt so damn good. “You feel so good on top of me, Michael,” I blurted out.
His confidence was showing when he smirked and said, “Just on top of you?”
I blushed. I couldn’t help it. Michael’s done the dirtiest things to me and I still blushed in front of him. “I like it all,” I admitted. “But when you’re on top of me, I feel wanted and safe,” I said like a dork. “Like you won’t let anything bad come near me.”
He kissed the tip of my nose before saying, “I’m not going to, Sophia. Y-” Whatever he was about to say was cut off by a knock at my front door. We’d yet to stay at Michael’s, but I knew that was because he was still trying to give me time to get used to all of his…Buchananness. “You expecting someone?”
I almost rolled my eyes at his tone. Hell no, I wasn’t expecting anyone. I had no friends, and I rarely had any deliveries. “No, you psycho,” I snorted. “I wasn’t even expectingyouthis afternoon.”
He jumped off my body and started gathering his clothes. “Get dressed,” he ordered. “I’ll go see who it is.”
I eyed him. “I should probably object to your highhanded ways, you know,” I said wryly.
The fucker winked at me and flashed his dimply weapons. “You probably should,” he agreed before turning his back on me and walking out of the bedroom.
I gathered my clothes wondering who it could be. Granted, Michael would probably send them on their way, so it wouldn’t matter. And that was probably a good thing, since I was sporting the just-fucked look.
My shirt was just falling back over the hips of the skirt I wore to work today when I heard the voices.
Theirvoices.
Goddamn, fuck, shit, hell, fuck, fuckity, fuck, fuck, goddam it!
I raced out of the room, down the hall and skidded to a stop on the hardwood floor of my living room to see Michael standing there, in a t-shirt and jeans-damn, he’s fine-with my mother and sister.
I was pretty sure I was going to throw up all over the place.
“Mm…Mother,” I stammered. “Mother, Phoebe…what are you guys doing here?” I’m not sure what my face conveyed, but Michael’s eyes darted over towards me and I could tell he picked up on my tone.
My mother huffed. “Really, Sophia,” she chastised. “Is that any way to greet your mother and sister?”
“Really, Sophia,” Phoebe chimed in, falling right in step with my mother like she always did, and probably always will.
“I just…” I could feel Michael’s eyes on me, and it was him that was causing me anxiety more so than my mother and sister. I was used to them. “I wasn’t expecting you guys, is all.”
My mother adjusted her purse over her arm and raised a brow. “Well, you’ve been avoiding us for days, so I figured we’d have to come to you.”
My eyes down casted. “I haven’t been avoiding you,” I corrected…or maybe I have. “I’ve just been…busy.”
Both their eyes flickered over to Michael before my mother remarked, “I guess so.”
