Prologue
There was blood everywhere.
Well, maybenoteverywhere…but it sureseemed that way. Of course, I wasn’t knowledgeable enough to assesshow much was an appropriate amount of blood in a situation likethis.
I’veexperienced nothing like thisbefore.
No one’s ever placedme in a position of importance before.
Nope.
Never.
I was that girl noone noticed.
Iwas that girl whose name no oneknew.
Okay,maybe that wasn’tentirelytrue.
Ihad one friend.
Viola.
Vivi.
She was myfriend.
She was thefirst, andonlyperson who made it a point to say hi and get to know me when Ifirst arrived at Blaineview College. And while I’m notheronly friend, she’s been my only friend for the pastthree years of my uneventful existence here.
However, my existenceat this small, private college was no longer uneventful.
No Siree Bob.
It’s now full ofevents.
LikeViola standing a few feet awayfrom me screaming at anyone who is daring to have an opinion and isstupid enough to voice it.
Like completestrangers flashing shots of me with their phone cameras.
Like thedouchebag college tools suddenly scanning my bodyup and down,eerily.
Likethe elite female cliquessuddenly shooting daggers my way as if I’ve somehow offendedthem.
Like Aiden Buchanandraping his jacket over my shoulders, in some weird attempt atcomfort.
Imean…Aiden FuckingBuchanan…what in the everlovin’ hell?
The onlypeople not staring me down,like an insect on the dissecting table, were Viola, in all herfurious glory, the two men who weren’t charging each other-onlybecause they were each being held back by a team oftestosterone-and the two teams of said testosterone.
All these latest currentevents were happening all around me and my mind was kind ofsluggish with the comprehension of all of it.
And while, yes,this is…orwasa college party, Imight have been buzzed, but I wasn’t anymore. So, the sluggishnesswasn’t because of any mind-altering liquid goodness.
It’sbecause, that I shouldn’t be in themiddle of anything remotely news worthy.
Remember…I was thegirl that no one notices.
I kept my headdown and stayed out of everyone’s business.
