Marit smiled and kissed his cheek, shutting her eyes for a second, and then opening them. “You wish for children?”
His eyes widened, “I do. I want to have many of them.”
She laughed, “I long to have many babies swimming around here again.”
Soraya came up to him and held his hand, “I also long to have a child.”
He kissed her softly, “Well let’s hope we have one soon.”
Destan held out his hand to him, the other wielding a large, golden trident. “Welcome to the family.”
Cruiz shook his hand and her father smiled at him.
Then Marit and Destan swam alongside them as they went to the middle of the tribe.
A mermaid looking much the same as Marit and Soraya swam up to them and hugged Soraya tightly.
“Sister. I have missed you so very much.”
“Ulyana, oh I have missed you too. Meet Cruiz. My mate.”
Ulyana smiled at him and her eyes landed on his chest and then met his, “You are a Protector.”
Cruiz nodded, “I am. Soraya told me about my heritage.”
Ulyana studied him, “Do you have a brother?”
Cruiz laughed, “I do. His name is Fin.”
“He looks like you, yes?”
Cruiz nodded, “He does.”
“I think he is my mate. Important to me.”
Cruiz smiled, “I believe so too. He told us when he got saved when he was younger. It was you, wasn't it?”
Ulyana nodded, “I did save a boy once. He was caught in the undertow. I was also very young, but I couldn’t help myself.”
“I am grateful to you. For saving my brother.”
Ulyana smiled, “May I come with you when you surface again?”
Soraya hugged her sister again and Cruiz smiled, “Absolutely.”
They spoke to the members of the tribe and everyone welcomed him with open arms. As well as for the first time since she was little, Soraya.
He loved how she was welcomed back and he could tell she was happy as well.
He watched as she talked to each member of the tribe.
And when they all sat down together to eat dinner that night, it was a night of laughing and pure enjoyment.
Cruiz knew they had to get back and as they were swimming, Ulyana swam alongside them.
Soraya and Ulyana spoke as they swam and Cruiz just listened to the sisters speak.
He longed to hold her in his arms and make love to her over and over.
