Marit had been overjoyed once again to find herself with child and Destan was over the moon.

The tribes had found out the good news, and Marit had told Soraya that their celebration had been the same as Tridenton.

That all had come with love and happiness for the royal family and that they wished them all a long, healthy life.

Marit had told her how grateful she was to each person for their love.

Marit named her Soraya. It meant gem in another language and as Marit’s own name meant that as well, it made Soraya even happier to be bestowed the name.

She was born with her mothers pink and teal tail. Her tail was light teal though instead of darker like her mothers, with more pink accents.

Ulyana came next, and Marit had rejoiced in the birth of two small mermaids.

It was a very unusual birth and one that gave the tribes much hope.

Her sister looked much the same as she did, except Ulyana’s hair had more blue in her tail and hair.

They had grown up in a loving family with her mother and father encouraging their gifts and songs.

Marit and Destan were so in love with each other even after all these years, and she knew that a love like theirs was something to be envied and to be rejoiced in. It was all she wanted in her life when she grew older.

And she knew that when she found her mate, that she too would have a love like that.

Being from a powerful family like she was, was intimidating. Her mother and her aunts were some of the most powerful Sirens that ruled the oceans.

Her father was too, as he was the king of the ocean, and could do much with his songs.

He was also the only man that couldn’t be influenced by Marit’s song, because he was her true mate, as Marit was also not influenced by his song.

Her brother could control the waves, like Destan did, and was excellent at controlling his gift.

Ulyana was also in control of the magic she wielded and practiced every day she could.

Soraya was different though. Almost ashamed of her gifts and who she was.

She stopped singing long ago, when she was a small child. Her song had too much influence for the males that lived in her tribe and any of the males she had come in contact with.

It would hypnotize them, turn them into men that weren’t themselves and she didn’t want to take anyone’s choices from them because of her song.

Even though her mother and sister always encouraged her to sing, Soraya refused to do so around others after she had hurt many and raised hell with her song.

She hadn’t meant to do it, but her brother had angered her one day so greatly that she had swum off, needing to sing, and express her frustration with him.

She’d sung such a powerful song of anger, and pain, that it had affected several of the males of her tribe.

Two of them had gotten into a horrible fight over it, that they had ended up killing each other.

She had been so horrified by the fight, that someone had been so influenced by her anger at her brother that they would fight to the death with each other.

It caused her to sing a song of such distress that the waves above them crashed in massive curls, lightning flashed through the sky and hurricane force winds blew ships about, sinking some and breaking others. She knew countless humans were on those ships, but she couldn’t stop it and knowing that each ship that sank hurt more, made her song that much more distressed.

Her mother, father, sister and brother had to work together to calm her and to control the storm and seas.

Destan and Tridenton had to wield their tridents together as one to make the sea stop it’s rage and that had never happened before.

Destan was always in control, but this was something altogether.

Soraya had collapsed into her mothers arms, sobbing and wishing that she had never sung her song at all.
