She turned around, the storm overtaking her ability to see, and to swim and she knew that Cruiz was in trouble.

She just left him. She couldn’t live with herself if he got hurt and she swam as hard as she could to reach the boat and him.

The boat was much smaller this time and she knew it didn’t stand a chance if she didn’t calm the storm and she gathered the love she knew she had for him, and that he had for her and took a deep breath, and then another.

The song started to change. To one of hope, love and happiness and the storm slowed. Lessened.

And as she swam closer, the bond she had with Cruiz intensified the song of love, until the waters calmed, the rain ceased and the clouds cleared.

The sun started peeking through the clouds once again, and she surfaced by the boat.

Cruiz was holding onto the boat, screaming her name. He looked up toward the sky, shock written all over his face that the storm had left as quickly as it had come.

“Cruiz!” She called out to him and he whirled around, “Soraya! Thank fucking goodness.”

Then he dove into the water, surfacing beside her and pulling her into his arms.

“What happened up there? One minute you were falling apart in my arms, and the next, a song burst from you that I was not expecting. And then you just left right when that storm blew in. You terrified me Gem. I thought you were gone forever. Dead. My heart wanted to break into a million pieces, I felt the separation so strongly. I can’t handle that again. Not ever.”

He put his forehead to hers and her tail brushed against his legs and he looked down, his eyes going wide.

“Is that? Do you have a tail? I’m dreaming? Or I died?”

She shook her head, “You didn’t die love, and you are awake.”

She kissed him, “See?”

He nodded, “Explain. Please.”

Chapter Six

Cruiz

After making love to Soraya, her body froze in his arms and a song burst from her mouth as if she couldn’t hold it inside her any longer.

It was beautiful, haunting, sad, yet happy at the same time and he sat, shocked and mesmerized by it.

He had never heard a sound like that before in his life.

He was so enthralled by listening to this song that when she jumped off his lap and backed away from him, the song still pouring free, he didn’t immediately try to stop her.

The wind picked up, and made the waves grow, tossing the small boat around as it did.

He tried to go after her, but had a hard time keeping his feet and then it was too late and she was gone.

Diving into the depths and the storm unleashed hell.

He was thrown back and forth on the boat and all he could do was hold on and pray that he didn’t get thrown off the boat again.

He knew a savior wouldn’t be waiting to save him this time and just as he was giving up hope that he would survive this, and survive losing Soraya when he had just found her, the storm lessened and then disappeared all together.

He knew he had to find his gem. He was terrified and started screaming her name.

When she said his name, he whirled around in shock and dove into the water, needing her in his arms, grateful she was still alive and unharmed.

He knew he needed to find out what happened and he needed to know now.

When he felt something brush against his legs he looked down in shock at the tail that Soraya had.
