She had told Raiden, who had told him.

His crew instantly went on alert, trying to find out any and all information they could about this, and it was just in time it seemed.

The next morning, the bank did get robbed. Or they tried to that is. But since he had been given warning, everyone had been in place and they had stopped the robbery in its tracks.

It hadn’t been without problems though, and he had gotten shot in his shoulder while taking the men down. It had stung like a bitch, but it was a through and through and he would survive it. He had had worse pain than this. It just angered him more than anything else.

This was twice now that things had slipped under his notice and he hated that. .

It shouldn’t have happened; not on his watch.

He and his crew would never let something like that slide under their notice again.

He knew why he hadn’t noticed the man lurking outside and finding out all the information he could find about the bank, but it bothered him that they had been so busy with setting up the new tech, and had been in a back room of the bank, -one that didn’t have windows -, and that was pretty much the only reason he hadn’t seen the guy.

It irked him to no end though. He wished he had gone with his gut and walked around the bank during the day, done better outside surveillance or something.

But he had been so caught up with getting everything squared away so that a thing like this couldn’t happen, that he had missed all of the signs.

He was grateful for the intel that Raiden had given them when he had.

He and his crew finished setting up the new tech after the almost robbery, and he went back to the office, both grateful and ready to move on. To put the epic failures in the past.

If he were still a SEAL, it would have come down on him hard that he could have lost lives or put people in danger.

And because of this, it made him angry. That he had put the tellers and the civilians in the bank in danger by not seeing the sign.

He was in his office a few days after the bank job had gone down, his shoulder still sore from the bullet, that it was more a nuisance than anything else, and he was stewing, when Crew came in his office, with something in his hand.

“Still angry? Come on, we stopped the robbery. Let it go.”

Steele shook his head, “I tried, really, but I’m just pissed. We dropped the ball and I know it wasn’t really our fault, because we were stuck in that fucking room, but fuck man, it was our job to notice men like that. You know?”

Crew sat down in the chair by his desk, “I get it. We all feel like we're failures. You aren’t the only one. But we stopped it. We made mistakes by not noticing the guy, but we have only been there for a few weeks and we have been in the back room. Cut yourself some slack Steele. We don’t blame you and neither does the owner of the bank. It couldn’t be helped. It was just a crazy coincidence that it got robbed while we were trying to prevent it from happening in the first place.”

Steele nodded and Crew went on, “You know the entire reason we got hired was because the owner was worried something would happen. That they knew their old tech wasn’t enough for the new age.”

Steele blew out a breath, “I get what you're saying; I’m just pissed we didn’t stop it or that guy from stealing from Gunner. He caused a lot of problems between him and his girl.”

Crew shook his head, “I know. I’m pissed that happened too. But when Jet looked at the tapes, we noticed that Neil snuck in before the building shut down and waited for Miles to leave for the day. He just blended in with several people coming in, and wasn’t checked like he should have been. Since it was Halloween also, Gunner and Miles left earlier than normal and Neil got what he needed and got out. Before anyone noticed the files went missing. It wasn’t on our watch. It was Gunner’s security during the day. They completely dropped the ball.”

“You're right. The men that they hired to watch the door during the day should have done their job, because he slipped by them. Had it been us, Neil wouldn’t have gotten close to the building.”

Crew laughed, “See? Don’t keep beating yourself up. That one wasn’t on us. We found Neil pretty quickly and all the shit he has done. They wouldn’t have known a single thing about it had we not looked into it further.”

Steele nodded, knowing Crew was right.

“So leave it in the past. We fixed the mistake that the other crew made, and we showed the bank why they should have hired us in the first place. First hand experience.”

Steele laughed, “Damn, I guess you are right.”

Crew snorted, “When are you going to learn that I’m always right?”

Steele rolled his eyes at that but left it be and Crew said, “By the way, this just came in. It’s addressed to you. It’s the same address from the bank. ”

Crew handed him a letter and Steele took it, intrigued by it. And then Crew left him alone to read.

It said,
