Chapter Two

Rickie

When she was a little kid she was shy, quiet, not liking attention from anyone. She was happy to sit quietly and observe and do her best to blend into the background.

People intimidated her, and she didn’t know why. They didn’t get that she liked to stay home and read, when others would play and get outside.

She only felt comfortable around her brother and his best friend Gunner.

When Gunner brought his sister around, it took a bit for her to overcome her shyness to talk to Genna.

But Genna pushed and Rickie was extremely grateful she did. They became best friends.

Genna was the one to bring Rickie out of her shell more and the one who stood up for her in every way.

The one who helped her to celebrate and love her curves. To be grateful that she had the body that most women secretly wished for.

Rickie went through school with Genna at her side, trying hard to get past her shyness, but failing miserably. She was happy with Genna being her friend and that was all she needed.

She didn’t have the best confidence in herself yet, though Genna tried endlessly to get her to realize how stunning she was.

After Genna met Luke, Rickie was thrilled for them, actually envied the love they had for each other, and Genna had her be the maid of honor at their wedding.

Raiden and Gunner were groomsmen and Rickie had cried through the entire ceremony.

It was so beautiful and she knew how much Luke loved Genna.

When it was all over, Rickie knew she would never settle for a love less than what Luke showed to Genna or what her own parents showed each other.

She had been asked out on a few dates, but never accepted. She still didn’t talk to many people and more often than not, she stayed in the background and didn’t mind it.

She got a job at the Trust Bank on Main Street and worked as a teller for two years.

When the big boss decided that they needed new security to bring the bank into the new age of updated technology, they hired a company called Reynold’s Security.

Rickie found out that Raiden’s company also employed them. They were a small team of retired SEALs and when they came into the bank the first time, she had been in awe.

They were all tall, strong and unbelievably sexy men. But their leader? He was without a doubt the sexiest man she had ever seen.

He stood a head over the others and had caramel brown skin, and dark hair with his chocolate eyes? It was as if he checked all the boxes for her dream man, one she hadn’t known would look like him. She had to clench her legs together with want and longing.

It was shocking to her. She had never had a reaction like that to a man before. Especially one like him.

He had a no-nonsense vibe about him, and she had been right. He let the managers know that he didn’t come to interact with the workers. He came to set up the new tech and that was all.

He didn’t even acknowledge anyone when the crew came to work, they went to the back room and didn’t speak to anyone other than the manager and the owner of the bank.

And try as she might, she didn’t want to keep noticing him, but she did, knowing when he came to the bank and when he left. They were the best times of the day.

Just seeing his handsome, serious face was everything to her.

She wanted to know all she could about him, and yet, she didn’t mind just observing him from afar.

And then one morning at work, she looked outside the window and noticed a strange man just sitting in his car. For hours.

The next day, she saw him again, and for weeks on end, she noticed him outside the bank day after day.

He would sit in the same car in the same spot day after day for hours on end. Sometimes she would see him writing notes down in something and other times he had a set of binoculars to study what went on inside the building.
