She was shocked at his vehemence. “I didn’t get you fired. You brought it on yourself.”
He gave a snort, “If you hadn’t said anything, I would have still worked there. I was supposed to become the assistant manager and it was thrown away because of you.”
She shook her head, “Once again, I didn’t do anything. I stood up to you because you seem to believe that you can just speak to another person the way you spoke about me. I have no doubt you spoke about and possibly to other women like you did me and I think you are a horrible human being. You deserved everything you got that day because you think you can treat others that way.”
He exploded, “I don’t care what fat bitches like you have to say! You ruined my life! I got kicked out of my apartment for losing my job!”
She shook her head again, “I’m sorry for that. But you don’t have the right to come to my place of business and attack me. I did nothing wrong. You brought this on yourself by being a horrible, nasty man, and if you don’t want my boyfriend to come back in here and kick your ass, I suggest you leave. He isn’t nearly as kind as I am.”
He scoffed, “He wouldn’t do a thing to me.”
Steele’s deep voice said, “Are you so sure about that?”
The man whirled around, his face draining of blood, and Steele took a step toward him, his face a mask of anger.
“You thought that you could come here and threaten my girl? That you thought you could speak to her again? And that you could get away with treating her like you did?”
The man gulped and said nothing, and Steele took another step toward him and Raiden came around the other side, inching his way toward her.
The man grabbed a long knife out of his pocket and chucked it at Steele as hard as he could.
Steele saw it coming and moved, making the knife bounce off the wall and hit the floor.
Rickie was on her feet in a heartbeat and Raiden was at her side, pushing her behind him, his phone was out and was calling the cops.
Steele pounced on the man, and slammed him against the wall, punching the man in the face, once, and then twice until the blood flew free from his nose.
Raiden called out, “Steele, the cops are on their way.”
Steele dropped the guy to the floor, anger practically radiating off him, and hurried to her side, pulling her into his arms.
She wrapped hers around his waist and buried her fingers in his shirt.
Within seconds, Harrison, Asher, Dirk and Owen were standing in the door of her office. They must have heard the last of it, and Raiden was standing over the man who was sobbing on the floor.
He was still on the phone with the cops, and in minutes, there were four officers apprehending the guy on the floor.
One of the officers came over to where they were standing, “Was anyone hurt?”
They both shook their heads as Steele said, “Just him and I was only protecting my girl.”
The cop raised his eyebrow, and said, “Can I take your statements of what happened here?”
Rickie talked to the man first and he gave her a look as if he recognized her from somewhere and it dawned on her that he was the one to take her statement at the robbery.
She gave him a small smile, “You were one of the cops at the bank robbery weren’t you?”
He nodded and looked over at Steele, “You stopped the whole thing didn’t you?”
Steele nodded, “I was. But I didn’t do it alone. I had my crew on my side and we had good intel that tipped us off first, which certainly didn’t hurt.”
He winked over at her and she smiled and finished giving her statement, and waited for Raiden and Steele to give theirs.
“Thank you for helping us, Officer. We really appreciate it.”
He smiled, and tipped his hat, “You're welcome. Thanks for the call.”
He walked out the door and she stood, “Well, this was an eventful day.”
