He had never had friends when he was younger because he was always so quiet, but here? He excelled.

He was still quiet, but it was to his advantage. He passed a lot of the exams that way, because he was so observant and didn’t make time for frivolous activities that most of the other SEALs did.

He worked hard on his mind and his body, reading any books he could get his hands on, and working out for hours, making his body into the ultimate machine.

He did his best to call home whenever he could and telling his parents about his life in the military.

They were always so proud of him and he knew that he had lucked out with finding them.

As years went by, Steele trained with his platoon.

The men were hard working, no nonsense and exactly the sort of men who understood him.

There were three men in his platoon that he really connected with when they came along, and ones he could actually call his friends.

He, Crew, Scout, and Jet had become close friends as they worked together in various missions, and on their deployments. Not only did they have his back, he also had theirs.

Jet Cannon was amazing with technology and computers. He was ridiculously smart with that kind of technology and could hack into anything and everything if he wanted to. Though only a few knew of this particular skill he had. They always had him work their intel first before any missions they went on and he never let them down.

Crew Carmichael was like his right hand. He was loyal, strong willed, and would do anything asked of him. His brain could process facts and numbers with incredible speed, and he also had a kind heart hidden behind his steel exterior. Steele trusted his judgment with zero hesitations.

Finally, Scout Lewis could fight with any kind of weapon there was. Gun, knife, any kind or style of either of those weapons, or hell, Steele even saw him handle a sword like a pro once. The man could use it to his advantage. He also was a black belt in Karate, Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, and he had learned many other fighting styles. He was fierce and strong, and one you always wanted at your back.

He never worried on missions with them at his back and on his side.

Together they went on a lot of dangerous, hard, terrifying missions that would have made a lesser man cower with fear.

They faced each and every mission with their courage, smarts, skills and each other and they came out victorious.

When they all decided to leave the SEALs and move onto a new life outside of the military, it wasn’t easy on any of them, and Steele had floundered for a while.

He didn’t know how to live a civilian life now and trying to get a job around the town where his mom and dad lived hadn’t panned out.

He hated feeling so bereft, and his crew knew that. They'd had many conversations about them also feeling the same. And when Scout, Crew and Jet had come to visit one day, they came with a purpose.

They wanted to start a security company. They had the brains, the brawn and the know how to do so.

Scout had been willing to finance the entire operation. His family came from money, and he had a small fortune of his own through good investments.

So, their company, Reynolds Security was founded.

They'd all agreed on the name together, even though he hadn’t liked it, as he wasn’t the financier of it, but Scout had argued that he had been their leader through thick and thin, and would be so with this new adventure.

So Steele had let it go. And they started gaining clients. Mainly in some friends that had taken a chance on them.

Gunner Powell had hired them to keep his real estate firm protected. And they had.

No doubt about that. For years, they had protected his building and nothing had happened on their watch. And you could bet that when it had been broken into, Steele had been pissed.

No one had ever gotten past any of his guys before and yet this guy had? Steele knew there had to have been a way, and they had found it, and he would never let it happen again. But it rattled him and he and his crew worked all the harder to track Neil down and make him pay.

He had begged and pleaded, but he was taken away in handcuffs and his many crimes weren’t helping his newest one.

It was a relief to find him, and he and the crew were able to once again focus on the large bank that needed new technology in place of the old.

They had hired his crew and Steele refused to fail.

And then he got a kick in the gut. Raiden had called, letting him know that some guy had been casing the bank for a while and no one had noticed him there except a teller.
