He shut his eyes and she stood, “Wait. Where are you going?”
He opened his eyes, “Back to the Pole. I know you are still struggling with your decision and won’t push you or rush you. So, until then, I will go back where I am needed.”
He shut his eyes again and she hurried to him, “What if I told you I was ready to go with you to the Pole? That I believe you and want to be with you? Then what?”
He opened his eyes, and they were full of hope for half a second and then they shuttered, “Please don’t tease me with that. I am breaking as it is.”
She smiled at him and reached out, touching his cheek softly.
His eyes fell closed, as if savoring her touch. When he opened his eyes again, they were full of love and longing.
“I want to go with you Jensynn. I was getting ready so I could be with you. After talking to my mom, my grandma and Eryka, I knew that we are really meant to be. Even more than you realize probably.”
His eyebrows drew together in confusion, “What do you mean?”
She smiled, “I mean, that you are an elf right?” He nodded and she went on, “So is my grandma. My mom has it in her blood and so do I.”
She showed him the slightly pointed tip of her ear and he stood stock still.
She laughed, “I even have magic. Not a lot, but I do have it.”
He still didn’t move, and she felt her excitement slowly fade, “Do you not want this anymore? Us?”
He turned his wide eyes on her, “My Queen, I have wanted nothing but you from the beginning. I just don’t want to get my hopes up. You shattered me. I can’t go through it again.”
She went up to him and wrapped her arms around his stiff body and he slowly melted into her, his arms coming up and hugging her back.
“I want this.Us.I knew that I was dumb for doubting you, I was just in shock. You were telling me these things that should have been fake, but it wasn’t and it took me a second to make my mind catch up to my heart. I am sorry for putting you through that. For doubting you. I will never doubt you again. I swear it for as long as I live.”
He pulled back from her and his hand came up slowly to touch her face as if he was afraid to chase her away.
“I love you Brenya. More than my own long life. I need the words though. Do you want me? To move to the Pole and live our lives there?”
She nodded, “I want that. All of it. To start a new life with you.”
He shut his eyes and she did as well, and when she opened them they were in the cabin she had seen in her dream.
She let out a gasp, “Where are we?”
He smiled, “My, or should I say,ourcabin.”
She looked around, “It’s beautiful Jensynn. I love it.”
She pulled out of his arms and started to look around, but he came up behind her, and kissed the side of her neck softly.
“You can have a tour later, I swear it. But now that you are here our bond is telling us it’s time. Don’t you feel it?”
She shut her eyes and could feel in her soul that it longed to join with his.
It wanted it’s other half to make it whole and she knew it was time.
She nodded, “I do. Make me yours fully.”
His entire face filled with so much relief and love that she knew that he had truly been hurting.
Never again would he be in pain.
