The man was glaring at him and Jensynn glared back, “Brenya, get back over here. Touching or dating customers is against the rules.” The man growled out and Jensynn went still.

Brenya looked up at him and knew that she could feel his body had gone stiff.

“He isn’t a customer Alan. This is my boyfriend.”

The man’s jaw dropped open, “You didn’t have a boyfriend yesterday. My mother would have told me.”

Jensynn put Brenya behind him, “What she does in her free time is her own, and she doesn’t have to give you or your mother the details of her dating life. It’s none of your concern.”

The guy raised his eyebrows, “It is too. My mother told me that Brenya has agreed to date me. In order to keep her job,” his voice tapered off at the end in a clear threat and Alan sneered at Brenya.

She glared at him, “I never agreed to that. I don’t want, no, that’s not right, Iwon’tdate you, and if I have to quit so I don’t have to then I will. You can go fuck yourself Alan.”

Alan glared at her, “I will tell my mother about this.”

Jensynn took a step toward him, not liking that he tried to threaten and blackmail his girl.

She grabbed his wrist, stopping his movement and Alan glared at them, “Have a good day, see you soon Brenya. You will be hearing from my mother.”

Then he walked out of the store, and Brenya shuddered against his back.

Jensynn turned around, and gathered her back into his arms.

“It’s okay love. It’s okay. I have you, I’m here my Queen.”

She had her arms wrapped tightly around his waist and when she looked up at him, he gave her a tight smile, “Are you okay?”

She nodded, and he kissed her soft mouth, “Do you want to get some lunch still?”

She nodded again, “I want to, but Agnes hasn’t shown up. That’s Alan’s mom and my relief. She does this a lot. And more often than not, I just eat at the desk.”

Jensynn didn’t like that, but nodded. “I will bring us something. Will you be okay by yourself? Or will he come back to try something else?”

She shook her head, “He should be gone. He only comes by once a day to bug me. He has always given me the creeps and tries to touch me, but today he went too far. He tried to kiss me, grab and corner me. To make me submit to him. I hate him Jensynn. He is the worst man I have ever met and now he is threatening my job? I don’t know what to do.”

Jensynn had to take a deep breath to calm himself down, otherwise he would be going after Alan. Wanting to teach the man a lesson about touching women who clearly didn’t want to be touched.

He cupped her face in his hands, “You don’t have to figure anything out yet. Give it time. And know this; I will always be here to protect you. I have been watching the store all day and the only reason I wasn’t when Alan came in was because I was changing. Damn, I failed you.”

Her eyebrows dipped in confusion, “What do you mean? You didn’t fail me.”

He leaned down and put his forehead to hers, “I did. I almost let something happen to you. You could have been hurt, or worse.”

He shuddered this time and she reached up and touched his face, “You didn’t fail me Jensynn. You came just in time. I am not mad at you or expect you to do something you don’t have to. I’m okay. I swear. You got here when I needed you.”

He kissed her, needing their connection again and after a few seconds of letting his mouth touch hers, he pulled away.

“I will be back. Let me get us something to eat. Text me if he comes back.”

She gave him a confused look again and nodded.

Then he left, hurrying to get her something.

He had seen that she wanted some kind of burger and he would get just that.

He got back to her store in record time and she was straightening some books when he walked back in.

She wiped her eyes hurriedly and he walked to her side, putting the bag of food on the floor.
