He went to his house, gave it a few blinks to clean up all the decorations he had put out and to make certain that his presence wouldn’t be known.
He did take the sheets that they had made love on, but that was it. He left everything else.
It wasn’t his and with another blink, he was back in the Pole.
In his cold and lonely house. He put the sheet on his bed, wanting her scent by him at all times and got dressed in his regular clothes.
Then he walked to the main warehouse, where Brander was waiting out front for him.
Brander hugged him for a second, “I know you were meant to stay longer, and I’m sorry to have you come back early. But the Pole is falling apart without you and Nick here.”
Jenysnn nodded, “It’s fine. I scared her away, so it doesn’t matter. Tell me what is going on.”
Brander let out a sigh, and went over all the issues they started having.
The main machine that made the toys had stopped working like it normally did.
It had just gone dead and no one could figure out why or how to fix it. That was his job, and he knew the machine inside and out.
Because of it breaking down, they were behind and could only hope to catch up if he fixed it.
He followed Brander to the machine, and put his hands on it, closing his eyes and seeing what was wrong.
One of the cogs inside the machine had come apart and because of that tiny thing breaking, it sent other pieces through the machine making it break down.
He opened the panel on the side and in a few hours, had found all the broken pieces and had fixed those that needed it.
As soon as the machine started working again, a cheer went up through the warehouse and Jensynn gave them all a slight smile.
Brander had gone from stiff and worried to relaxed. He was grinning around him and Jensynn walked to the next place that was having issues.
He fixed it too, and then went to Nick’s office and checked the list to make certain that it had recorded the last few days of him being Santa.
It had and with that final task done, Jensynn turned, and went back to his house.
He was exhausted and the longer he was away from Brenya, the harder it would be on his body and soul.
At least for now. Over time it would get easier.
He had just sat down in his chair when a knock sounded at his door.
One of the female elves was there, a girl he had kissed years and years ago.
She had hoped back then that she was his mate and hadn’t let it go.
“Can I help you Mayla?”
She pushed past him, into his house and it made him bristle. He never let anyone into his private sanctuary. Only Brander.
She glared at him, “I heard you found your mate. How could you do that to me? I thought we were going to make a go of it? Try to be with each other? How could you choose a human over me?”
He shook his head, “I never gave you that option. Nor have we ever discussed it. Not once in all these years Mayla. This is the first I have ever heard of any of it. I kissed you once, over eighty years ago, but it was before I reached maturity and haven’t looked at you since. You weren’t my mate then and you aren’t now. Hell, our kiss was barely a peck. Don’t act like this. It’s beneath you.”
She walked up to him, “You don’t want me? I have seen you look at me from across the warehouse.”
He rolled his eyes, “I was doing my job Mayla. You have never been more than a passing glance in many, many years. Don’t make this more than it is. What happened between us was a mistake. I just wanted to see if I felt something for someone and obviously I didn’t. I found the girl I am meant to be with, and it isn’t you. You need to accept it for what it is. It wasnevergoing to be you. Even if I didn’t find my mate. I didn’t want you. You are not the girl for me. You never have been. The minute we kissed I saw that. Youknowthat.”
She was pouting, and sat down hard in one of his chairs, “I just can’t believe you would do this.”
