Then he stood on shaking legs and wavered as he walked to where Reid was still tied up.

He plucked and pulled at the ropes and after a few minutes, the ropes gave way, and it was Reid’s turn to fall to his knees.

He had to use his arms to catch his fall, and since his body was tired, and drugged it seemed as if he was so much heavier and he hit the ground hard, jarring his bad arm in the process.

A loud disgusting pop sounded as his shoulder dislocated, the still healing joint not fully ready for his entire body weight to hit it, making it slide free from its anchor. The pain was sharp, much like a knife or hot iron would feel, making him cry out.

“Fuck! Xavier,” he panted, “My shoulder.”

Xavier hurried to his side and saw the bulge of his arm hanging awkwardly in his sleeve.

He ran a hand over his face, “I don’t know how to put your shoulder back into place. Oh fuck,”

Reid winced, trying to get to his feet and glad he still had a trace of the drugs running through him.

He swayed on his feet, and cursed his luck, he would have to walk down the mountain with his arm out of the socket.

He was exhausted, in pain and cold, the wind picking up and making him shiver but he refused to let Mark win.

He knew Mila would be terrified, and he wouldn’t lose her. Not now.

He wouldn’t allow that to happen.

He looked around, “I don’t want to get lost in the woods. Even more than we already are. Should we wait for light?”

Xavier gave a sigh, “I think we can do this. You saw where we went. Come on.”

Reid held his arm as still as he could, not looking forward to the long hike back down the treacherous mountain, but knowing it was his only shot.

He nodded, “Let’s go. My girl is waiting.”

They walked out of the clearing, trying to go the same way Mark had, but the longer they walked, the more lost they were.

Before they knew it, they were higher on the mountain and not even close to the trail they needed to be on.

Not that they had used a trail. That would have been much too easy for them to find their way.

No, Mark had wound them around and around the mountain, and Reid knew that the man must have directions back down, but they would have no clue.

His arm was hurting like a bitch and every once in a while he would hit it against something, a tree, or a boulder or a branch that was in the way and he would let out a groan and not only would it jar his shoulder, but it would cause the slash down his arm to open.

Xavier would also groan and would have to hold his stomach, and most of the front of his jeans and his shirt were completely soaked through with blood.

Reid knew he couldn’t make it any further and sat down hard against a tree.

Xavier looked like he was about to fall over himself and Reid said, “Listen, us wandering in the dark is doing more harm than good. We are going to get even more lost and I can’t keep going like this. I’m in so much pain and my system is still reeling from the drugs. I know you are too. You had them in your system longer. We have to rest before we fall over.”

Xavier looked like he wanted to argue, but Reid shook his head, “We have to stop Xavier. We have to.”

Xavier finally nodded, sitting down beside him, “Alright, but at first light we get the hell off this mountain.”

Reid nodded too, “Deal.”

They shut their eyes for a while, and while it wasn’t good sleep, it was something.

Reid wanted to get off the mountain and get back to his girl and he would do everything in his power to do so.

He knew that he had to survive this as well, because Mark needed to be put away for life. The man was pure evil and needed to be stopped.

He would fight this. He would take no other option.
