He grit his teeth, needing to get his medication. He didn’t want to leave her all alone, but he knew he would never sleep without some help.

And he needed to rub the lotion on his skin, or it would never stretch like he needed it to.

He slipped out of her bed, pulling on his boxer briefs and then his pants.

He tried to get his shirt on, but his shoulder was having none of it.

Mila stirred in bed and reached for him, but when she noticed he wasn’t there, she sat up, holding the blankets to her bare breasts.

She blinked at him sleepily, “What are you doing Reid?”

He let out a breath, “Sorry babe. I couldn’t sleep. My shoulder is hurting like a bitch. I have to get my medication. I didn’t want to leave you, but I know this won’t just go away.”

Her eyes widened, “Oh, you did overdo it today. Oh no. I will help you.”

He shook his head, “You don’t have to, if you don’t want to. I will be okay to get home.”

She glared up at him, “You are in this mess because of me. So, yes. I absolutely have to come with you.”

He tried to smile, but his shoulder twitched, and he let out a soft groan.

She jumped from the bed and pulled on a pair of clean, white cotton panties and a soft bra and then put on some sleep pants and a large hoodie.

He recognized it as one of his, she must have gotten it from his closet when he wasn’t looking.

When she saw him looking at it, she blushed. “I was cold one day; I was just borrowing it.”

He laughed, trying not to move his shoulder too much. “Babe, it’s all yours. I like seeing you in my clothes.”

She packed up some clothes in a small bag and hurried to her bathroom and then stood in front of him.

He bent to put his shoes and socks on and hissed at the pain.

She directed him to sit and helped him put on both socks and shoes and then held his hand while they went to the truck.

She held out her hand and he let out a soft sigh, knowing he loved to drive but being in no condition.

She backed out when they got situated and drove to Grace and Brent’s house.

He wanted nothing more than to find his own place, even though he was so grateful to the McGuire’s for all they had and still did for him.

When they pulled in the driveway, he was practically holding his shoulder so it wouldn’t bump or jar.

He didn’t want it to. He was gritting his teeth and trying to breathe through the pain.

He knew he was an idiot of epic proportions for carrying Mila out of the restaurant, but he had to.

It was a matter of honor, of pride. He was so angry and hurt that she would be on a date with another.

But he was paying for it now. She hurried him into the house, and he knew he was dragging.

He was still shirtless and when she rushed him into his room, he sat on the bed and took a deep breath and then another.

She brought him his pills and a glass of water.

He popped them all in his mouth and drank them down, and then he winced as he lay back.

She helped rub the lotion into his skin and he groaned as she rubbed over the painful knots in his shoulder.
