They stitched up his arm, and did an X-ray of his shoulder, which Mila couldn’t go in for.

She kissed him before he went in the room and said, “I will be right here waiting.” He nodded and laid there as they took their x-rays.

When he was back in his room, Mila was there again, holding his hand.

His doctor came in, his X-ray in his hand.

“It doesn’t appear that you did any excessive damage to your shoulder. You didn’t tear anything, and it seems okay as of right now. You will still need to work with your physical therapist, but this didn’t seem to set you back. You are very lucky. How long did you say it was out of socket for?”

“At least a day and a half. My friend didn’t really know how to put it back in, and so I just left it free, but I knew it couldn’t stay like that. I could barely move.”

The doctor nodded, “He did a fantastic job. He is lucky he did, or he could have broken your arm.”

Reid nodded, “I know.”

The doctor shook his head, “Other than that, your arm looks good. I did start you on some antibiotics, but it seems you are lucky on that account too.”

Reid raised his eyebrows, and the doctor went on, “If he had cut any deeper, you would have lost some function. And he could have nicked an artery. So yes, lucky. It does have some infection, but again the antibiotics are taking care of that. We are keeping you overnight to give you fluids as you are a little dehydrated, but after that you are good to go.”

Reid let out a sigh, “Thank you. Is my friend okay?”

The doctor nodded, “He is in the next room. He did have to go in for a small surgery to repair the damage the knife caused in his stomach and he suffered from a broken ankle.”

Reid raised his eyebrows, “He had a broken ankle? He didn’t tell me that. He hiked the entire time without telling me.”

Mila squeezed his hand and he looked over at her in shock.

The doctor nodded, “Yes. It was broken in a few places. They had to put a pin in it twice. But other than that, he too is fine. The infection in his stomach wasn’t as bad as we originally thought. You both were extremely lucky you didn’t have frostbite.”

Reid pulled Mila closer to him, “Yes we are. We were able to make a fire most of the time.”

The doctor gave a dark chuckle, “It saved your lives most likely.”

Then he gave them a nod and left the room and he looked over at Mila.

He lifted his good arm and she climbed up on the bed with him.

He wrapped his arm around her, and she said softly, “I thought you were gone. You left me that note and it broke my heart.”

He kissed her forehead, “I know it did. I couldn’t just go into the mountains without you knowing how I felt about you.”

She looked up at him, her hand coming up to cup his face, “Don’t do that again. Okay? My heart can’t handle it.”

He turned his face to kiss her hand and then leaned up to kiss her lips.

“I swear on my life I won’t.”

“Good. I will kick your butt if you try it.”

He let out a laugh and a knock sounded on the door.

“Come in.”

Nikolai, and Dmitri walked inside, and Reid smiled at them.

Nikolai’s eyes flashed with something when he saw Mila snuggled against him and Nikolai winked at her.

Making Reid pull her tighter to him.
