Chapter 13
Reid
After their engagement and spending the night together, Reid knew it was time to get back home, and after his latest doctor’s appointment where he found out that he wouldn’t need surgery again, he felt like a new man.
He had been in contact with Xavier, though his friend was being cagey and quiet, and he didn’t know why.
He had also talked to Nikolai once more and told him about his engagement and invited him to the wedding.
He needed his friend there with him.
Nikolai had gladly accepted and told him that he had given everything that Xavier had sent him to his lawyers, and they were in talks now to get him fully released and not have to go back.
Reid was relieved and knew he needed to thank Xavier, but for some reason Xavier wouldn’t answer the phone, even after Reid called him at least five times, so he left it be.
He told him about the wedding on his voicemail and hoped that his other friends would make it.
They were planning on coming for Kian’s and Karalee’s wedding, so Reid knew he might as well try to have his wedding close to Kian’s.
He was going to talk to Kian today, since he hadn’t had the chance to yell at him about that little thing that happened while he was in Illinois.
Kian was helping move Karalee into his house and Reid knocked on the door, knowing Karalee was back at work.
Kian opened the door with a grin, and then hugged him and Reid hugged his brother back, and Kian gestured for him to come in.
They walked into the living room and Kian sat on a chair while he sat on the couch.
He crossed his arms, “So, you want to tell me what happened when you were in Illinois?”
Kian shook his head, “Nope.”
Reid growled at him, “You got shot Kian! What the fuck?”
Kian sighed, “Yeah, um. That was not really my fault. Okay, it was kind of. But it was fine. And I am fine. Really. I swear.”
Reid rolled his eyes, “I wish I had been there. Like what the hell Kian?”
Kian shook his head again, “Listen, I know you might have heard some, but here is what really happened okay?”
Then Kian told him everything that happened, and Reid tried his best to not react too much.
He was pissed that Kian had gone in like that. Had done what they were trained not to do.
He sat back when Kian finished and shook his head, “Damn it Kian. You could have been killed! I just can’t believe this.”
Kian stood, and started pacing, “I knew what I was doing. I mean what else was I just supposed to do? Let Karalee walk in there? So I could have lost her to that asshole? I didn’t really have much of a choice Reid.”
Reid ran his hands over his hair, his shoulder pulling for a second. “Yeah, you are right, but still. I hate that you even went through that in the first place. You should have had me there at your back. Fuck.”
He looked over at his brother, “You swear you are okay?”
Kian nodded, “I swear. The guys were there, and Gray took him down. I swear it was fine.”
Reid stood and hugged his brother, “Now both of us have jacked up shoulders too huh?”
Kian laughed, “I guess so. We can recover together.”
Reid chuckled, “Someone has to work. Sienna is close to having her baby. So is Stacy.”
