Reid raised his eyebrow, “You want to help me shower?”
She blushed and he laughed again, “I did it myself today. I got soap in my eyes a few times, but I did it myself.”
She gave him a shy smile, “I'm proud of you. Taking a shower by yourself.”
He laughed, “It may not seem like a big deal, but having my dad and Brent help me when I am a grown man isn’t easy.”
She laughed and then looked at him, making him want to lean in and kiss her soft mouth.
“Do you want to get out of the house today?” She asked and he nodded, “I do. I haven’t seen much of the town yet.”
“Would you like to come to my family’s diner? You can meet my Nana and my Grandpa. Possibly my little sister.”
He nodded, “I would love that. Thank you.”
She grabbed his good hand and after he slipped some tennis shoes on, along with his baseball hat, he was good to go.
He followed behind her to her car and sat in the passenger seat, though with his long legs it was a tight fit.
She looked over at him and then laughed, “You can move the seat back if that helps.”
He reached down and moved the seat back and it was much easier to fit in the small seat.
She reached over and put her hand on his leg, and he gave a small jolt of surprise.
She ripped her hand away, “Oh, I’m sorry.”
He shook his head, “You can put your hand there love, it’s okay. I was just startled. Really.”
She very slowly put her hand back on his leg and he grabbed hold of it with his good hand and held it.
“Thank you for getting me out of the house.”
She nodded, “You're welcome. I hope you're ready for the crazy that's about to happen to you.”
He laughed, “The crazy huh?”
She turned serious eyes on him, “Oh yes. My family is loud and will want to know all about you. Every single thing they could want to know, they will ask. Since it’s Saturday, my parents and my sister will be here as well as my grandparents. I forgot to mention that.”
He laughed again, “It’s okay. I'm not going anywhere. Not going to get scared over a little investigation. I’m an open book, I swear.”
She gave a small nod, “If you're sure. I just hate springing this on you. It’s not like we are really dating or anything. Oh damn it. I knew I shouldn’t have brought you. Let me take you back home.”
She slowed the car down like she was going to turn around and he squeezed her hand, “Babe, the second I kissed you in my room the other day meant that I claimed you as mine. You're the girl I have been waiting on. The one I wanted to find since I could remember. Do you think I'm the type of guy to just kiss a random girl? At any time?”
She shrugged and pulled the car over, “I don’t know. I don’t really know much about you to tell you the truth.”
He pulled her hand up to his lips, “What do you want to know? Before we go see your family?”
She looked at him, “How old are you?”
He laughed, “I'm twenty-three. You?”
“I just turned twenty last month.”
He smiled, “Happy birthday. We didn’t even get to celebrate it.”
She laughed, “I didn’t even know you then.”
