Her sister, Mackenzie didn’t want to learn like she did. She was more outgoing than Mila was, and had many friends.

She was only in the 8th grade, but she wasn’t afraid to talk to anyone.

She favored their dad more than Mila did, but where Mila had his eyes, Mackenzie had dark green ones like their mom.

Kenzie had black hair, and she had dark brown hair.

They had the same nose, and the same dimple in their cheek.

But they looked different. And they had their separate personalities.

As they grew older, Kenzie decided that working in their restaurant wasn’t something she wanted to do. She wanted to be a nurse.

Malena was happy with whatever they decided, never pushing them to be anything more than what they wanted to be. She wanted them to follow their dreams, to follow their heart and she knew it would guide them.

Malena worked for a marketing company designing billboards for it and did very well.

Matias owned his own car business and sold cars in the next town over.

He worked very hard for their family as well and together they had a life that most would envy.

Mila not only wanted to work in the diner, but often would help her grandma at the diner after school. When she graduated, she started working there full time.

It was in her blood and she knew that Nana Beth wasn’t getting any younger.

Neither was Grandpa Joe. So, she was more than happy to learn the ins and outs of the business so that one day she could take over and own it.

Her cousins would come visit every few months and she was really close with her cousin Miles.

He was such a fun guy and he worked really hard for a real estate guru in Sacramento.

He was the man’s assistant and had helped build the business to what it was now.

She was so proud of his hard work and all he did. She tried to talk to him as often as she could, but lately it hadn’t been easy.

He was much busier than she was, and she never made him feel guilty. They talked when they could, and she was grateful for the time that they did get.

She loved the town so much and when it got newcomers, she loved it even more.

She had met Trace when he moved to Silver Springs, and while he was handsome and kind, he also didn’t do it for her.

She had no idea what was wrong with her.

Why she hadn’t found a single man in their town attractive to her in that way.

Sure, there were plenty of men that were. But not a single one had stuck out to her or had affected her in any way.

Not like in her novels that she read or like the love her grandparents and her parents had. She knew it was a stupid fantasy and hated that, but a little fantasy in life wasn’t the worst thing.

So she held her fantasy of her dream man close to her heart and refused to give it up.

It wasn’t as if she didn’t get the opportunity to date. She just chose not to.

In fact, plenty of men had hit on her, and or asked her out. Asked for her number, wanted to talk to her, to get to know her and she refused each offer.

She quickly became known as the Ice Queen to them because she would shut down their advances fast and wanted nothing to do with it.

She never gave out her number to any strange man and went home night after night alone.
