She walked him to the door and he tipped his hat at her and left.
Driving back to the station, he waited until Scott got there and then he went home.
He was happy for the first time in a long time.
Growing up had been one constant struggle after the other.
And it had shaped him into someone people never talked to. They were frightened of him and he didn’t like that.
He just had forgotten along the way how to be the man he was.
And now? He felt hope that he could have a life. A real life and one filled with family and love.
Love. Real, actual love. And he could see it all with Emery. Since she had looked up at him with her sea blue eyes and her blond hair in her face, he knew.
He wanted to leave Sienna and Brek alone, but this was important.
So he pulled his phone from his pocket and texted his best friend.
Trace: I wanted to let you know I found her. Just like you said I would.
Brek: Found her? Like her, her? Are you serious?
Trace: Yep. I met her today. She was moving into her grandma Viv's house. The one that was caught up in the break-ins.
Brek: Wow. That is amazing. What is her name?
Trace: Emery Collins. She's tiny. Shorter than Sienna and has blond hair and sea blue eyes. They turn from green to blue depending on her mood
Brek: You noticed all that? I’m not shocked but man. You are taken, aren’t you?
Trace: As much as you were. Do you remember everything you told me about Sienna?
Brek: Always.
Trace: I’m the same. I never thought it would happen. Ever.
Brek: I did. I knew you were meant for more. So did my parents. And so does your sister.
Trace took a deep breath and let it out. Seeing that meant a lot.
Trace: Thank you. Give Sienna a hug for me.
Brek: Will do. She's squealing in my ear.
Trace laughed out loud. Now that his sister had found her voice, he wasn’t shocked that she was using it.
Trace: Enjoy your vacation.
Brek: We'll try. But I have a feeling it will be cut short. Sienna wants to meet your girl
Trace: Then I'll see you sooner, rather than later.
Brek: Indeed
Trace put his phone away and laughed.
He loved his sister and knew she'd be making Brek pack their things so they could come back sooner.
