She swallowed hard and tried valiantly to not track her eyes down his body, but failed.

He was solid. Full of muscles and had a flat stomach that she couldn’t see his ab muscles due to his bullet proof vest but hoped deep down he had them.

His black pants showed off his thick legs and she swallowed hard again.

When she looked back up into his eyes, they were smirking and he had a half a smile on his handsome face.

With his sharp jawline, his straight nose and his high cheekbones.

He had his hat on, but she could see dark hair peeking from it and one strand had fallen out and was brushing his forehead.

She wanted nothing more than to push that lone strand out of his face, but oh lord was that not appropriate.

She mentally shook herself, noting that with her 5’0 nothing frame, she barely came up to his shoulder.

He was broad where she was tiny and she kinda loved it.

Holding out her hand shyly, since this was the first man to ever catch her interest, she said, “I’m Emery Collins, and thanks again for catching me. That wouldn’t have felt good if I hit the ground.”

He smiled at her and took her hand in his large one. “Trace Barker. I'm glad too. Can I help you with the last of your boxes?”

She went to shake her head but found herself nodding instead.

She watched him walk to her car and lift out the box she was struggling with like it was nothing.

Biting her lip to keep from moaning at how sexy he was as he effortlessly lifted that huge box was something she never expected.

She hurried to the house and showed him where to put it. Glad she hadn’t started taking her clothes out yet.

He put the box down and then went out to get another.

In just minutes her car was unloaded and he stood in the living room, looking around.

“Are you a relative of Vivian Collins?”

She nodded, “I’m her granddaughter.”

The compassion slid over his face and she loved it. “I am sorry for what happened to her. It was and is horrible.”

She nodded, “Thank you. Were you one of the cops who found her?”

He nodded. “Yes, Sheriff McGuire and I were the ones to find her and apprehend the man who did it.”

She came forward and hugged him. Which took him by surprise for a heartbeat, but his arms came around her and she breathed in his cologne.

It was crisp and wonderful. She wanted to breathe him in but let him go and he finally dropped his arms.

“Thank you for taking care of my grandma.”

He smiled, “Of course. Is she doing okay?”

She smiled. “Yeah, she comes home tomorrow. It’s been a long few months trying to get her back to her old self.”

Trace nodded, “I only wish we were here sooner.”

She shook her head, “It wasn’t your doing. If you hadn’t gotten here when you did, it would have been worse.”

He gave a half smile and she said, “Thanks for helping me with the rest of my boxes too. Is the Sheriff’s department always this helpful?”
