He gave her a soft smile, “I’m sorry you had to go through this. My deputy’s and I are working diligently to find him and now that he has taken it a step further, it only makes me want to find him all the more.”
He sighed, “I need to take your statement, and check for prints okay? Do you feel up to talking to me about what happened?”
She nodded and then he said, “Do you feel as if you can stay here? Or do you need a place to stay until we can figure out what the intruder was doing in here?”
She hadn’t thought this far ahead, and it terrified her. She hadn’t had nightmares about that terrifying night for a long time. Because she'd felt secure here.
Had finally come to peace with it all, and now? She had a feeling that nothing would ever feel secure ever again.
But she wasn’t completely freaking out yet. Mainly because the cop was still here, still doing his best to keep her calm and she felt his strength deep inside her.
Feeling safe like this was something she wasn’t expecting tonight. And she wanted to bask in his strength.
Knowing he was going to make sure everything was as safe as it could be, helped calm her and she was finally able to think about the next step.
She knew she could sleep out in her greenhouse. It had a special lock on it and was very secure.
She wanted to tell him this, but of course, couldn’t. So, she pulled out of his safe, warm, and large arms and walked to the kitchen where she had several notebooks and a pen.
Writing, “I can stay here. I have a place that is more secure. Thank you.”
The policeman followed her into the kitchen and watched her write her answers down.
“All right. If you are sure. Then I will take your word for it. I don’t want you to be scared about all of this.”
She nodded and he pulled a small notebook from his back pocket and sat down at her dining room table.
She sat as well, and he looked down, “Can you tell me what happened?”
She nodded, taking a deep breath and pushing her past fear down, writing out her response and he raised his eyebrow.
“Can you not talk?”
Sienna felt her face heat and was brought instantly back to school when everyone made fun of her.
Biting her lip, she dropped her eyes and felt her shoulders slump, as she shook her head.
The cop reached out and gently touched her chin, using his finger to lift her face to look at him.
“There is nothing to be embarrassed over. If you can’t talk, it’s not a big deal to me. You can write everything like you have been. Okay?”
She let out the breath she had been holding and nodded.
He smiled at her and it transformed his face from handsome to gorgeous.
She had never in her life seen a man that looked like him.
He was tall, muscular and just handsome. He had his bright blue eyes and dark brown, almost black hair peeked from the hat on his head.
His jaw was strong, and when he smiled, he had one dimple in his cheek.
He had straight white teeth, his voice was deep, and his eyes were kind and full of something she didn’t have a name for.
She bit her lip again and wrote down her name, and everything that had happened that night, not knowing what he needed, but trying to be helpful and he watched as she did.
When she was done, she looked up at him and he sighed, “This is not his usual thing as I said before. The man hasn't come to someone’s house while they were at home before, and most of the time he breaks into someone’s house, it has been during the day.”
Sienna didn’t know what to say or write. She shrugged her shoulders and the cop put his hand over hers.
