Brek shook his head, “She needs to be here too. She is as much my family as you are.”

His dad turned and opened the door, then poked his head out.

Sienna came in seconds later, and he held his hand out to her. “Don’t leave my side babe.”

She nodded and he pulled her hand to his mouth. “Mom, dad, I assume you have met the love of my life and my future wife.”

Sienna gasped and Grace pulled her in for a hug. “We certainly have. And your father and I are both thrilled for you.”

Brek kissed her hand again softly, and then lay back on his bed. The nurse must have given him some more medication.

“Take care of my girl.” He slurred and then fell asleep.

Waking up sometime later,Brek noticed he was alone in his room. He didn’t like it.

Sienna must have gone home, and he liked that even less.

Yes, he felt better knowing Brandon was still in jail and that Jake was dead, but damn it.

He did not like Sienna home alone. She had family now. His family.

And he would do anything to make her get that through her head.

Sighing, he looked around his room and saw his phone on a table across the room.

He wanted to check on her and would. Sitting up, it made him groan. His stitches pulled and it hurt, but he would push past the pain.

Swinging his legs over the side of the bed, he sat on the edge, wondering how he could walk all the way over there. He was attached to a bunch of wires, and he didn’t know what to do.

Standing slowly, he swayed on his feet, but determinedly stayed standing.

Putting one foot in front of the other, Brek made it a few steps before the wires pulled him up short.

He couldn’t go further without taking some of the wires off his chest.

Which he did. The monitor beeped loudly, and he took another step toward his phone before his door burst open and a bunch of nurses and doctors came rushing in.

The nurse who had been helping him saw him standing there, and saw the wires swinging from the machine. She put her hands on her hips.

“And just what do you think you are doing out of bed?”

Brek put his hands up in surrender and the nurse pointed for him to get back in bed.

One of the doctors saw him swaying and yelled, “He's going down. Catch him!”

The doctor was right, and Brek started falling to the side, his head swimming.

They put him back in bed, mindful of his injuries and Brek nodded his thanks.

The nurse checked him over and re-attached the monitor. “Are you in pain? Do you need any more medicine?”

He shook his head, “I just wanted my phone.”

The nurse rolled her eyes, “There is a button right here.” She pointed to the button on his bed, “If you push it, I can come in and help you.”

Brek nodded, “Can you get my phone?”
