Brek took the next hour to explain all the strange break-ins to his dad and how the man stole random things from people.

His dad stroked his chin, “I'm stumped. This makes no sense. Why would he go to the trouble of breaking into someone’s home to not take anything valuable?”

Brek shrugged. “I don’t know. It doesn’t make sense to Jake, Trace or me. It’s why I had to get it up on the board to help me see the bigger picture. I’m trying to figure out his next move. Because after last night, I have a feeling that things will be escalating.”

His dad looked over at him. “Please be careful Brek. That is all I ask. Don’t take unnecessary risks.”

Brek shook his head, “I won’t dad. But I want this to stop.”

His dad nodded, “I understand that. I don’t like that this is happening in my town. If you need my help at all, don’t hesitate to call me. Okay?”

Brek nodded, “I won’t. You will be the first.”

He looked at the clock and noticed it was time to go home. He had been at this all day and he needed to get home to get ready for his date with Sienna.

His dad noticed him glance at the clock and he grinned. “Have fun tonight. I will tell your mother that you are coming on Sunday. Okay?”

Brek grinned back and nodded and his dad left.

Brek left everything up on the board and walked out of the station just as Jake was getting back from being on patrol all day.

Brek nodded at his other deputy, “Jake. How did it go today? Any trouble?”

Jake laughed, “Brek, it takes 6 minutes to cross from one end of town to the next. Everything was fine. I gave a few speeding tickets out and helped Mrs. Black find her cat. That pretty much summed up my day.”

Brek laughed, “I made up a board for us to try to figure out this puzzle. For the break-ins.”

Jake nodded, “I'll take a look at it while I'm working tonight.”

It was Jake’s turn to take the evening on call shift. Even though he had been at work for a few hours already.

But they had a schedule, and everyone stuck to it, taking turns and working together.

Brek slapped his friend on the shoulder and walked to his cruiser.

He needed a shower and he wanted to pick up some flowers for Sienna.

Whistling as he drove down the road to get her some blossoms, he missed the man glaring his way.
