We haven’t talked of that night again since she’s been back. It’s been a week, so I’m hopeful things have mostly blown over, even though I’m getting rather hungry, and there’s still the unanswered question of how I will feed. Somehow, going to Baker’s Bloods feels wrong.
While I pick at my food, she eats with gusto, complimenting the wine, appetizers, and main course. I figure with as hard as she’s been working, she deserves a night out to be wined and dined. She also fills me in on the news that her mother’s house has sold, and that she’s happy that chore is behind her.
Now back at the house, I lead Tressa upstairs to my bedroom. She gives me a curious look, lifting one eyebrow. “Eager?” she asks.
“Exceptionally so,” I admit.
I toss my jacket to the sofa as we pass it, and Tressa deposits her high heels at the foot of my bed as she climbs on board. She looks sexy crawling up toward the pillows in her fitted black dress and sheer stockings. My body reacts accordingly.
I know I shouldn’t rush this, but I’ve been eager to touch her all night, so it’s hard not to. When I join her on the bed, Tressa plants herself in my lap and begins kissing my neck. Moments later, her slender fingers are at the button of my pants.
“Go slow, sweetheart. We have all night,” I say, tipping her chin up toward mine, so I can capture her lips in a sweet kiss.
“I like the sound of that.” She grins up at me.
“Good. And, the staff is out tonight, so feel free to be as loud as you want.”
“Reign… she moans, when my hands move from her waist up over her full breasts.
“I love the way you say my name,” I admit on a sigh. But that perfect moment is interrupted by my phone vibrating loudly against the coffee table across the room.Dammit.
Tressa pulls back and meets my eyes. “Do you need to answer that?”
Not even a little bit. I have everything I need right here. Besides, I have no idea who would be calling me. “Ignore it.” Unfortunately the vibrating doesn'tstop. “Hold that thought,” I tell Tressa with one last kiss. Grabbing my phone, I see Alastair’s name flash on the screen. “Yes?” I answer, more than a little annoyed.
“Heyyy, brother-man,” he says a little too loudly. I pull the phone back from my ear.Brother man?“You’re not too busy are you?”
“Actually I am. Did you need something?” I try, and fail to keep the annoyance out of my voice. He picked the worst possible time to call.
“I need a ride. Had a little too much to d-drink,” he says.
“Can't you just call an Uber?”
“Tried that,” he says, voice unsteady. “I couldn’t get a ride at this hour.”
Fuck. My brother has the worst timing ever. I'm finally about to be naked with the woman I've been craving for a month.
“Can’t you call someone else? I'm in the middle of something.”
Tressa gives me a strange look. “It's Alastair,” I mouth.
She nods, raising her eyebrows. She looks so beautiful on my bed, I want to ravage her. Immediately.
“Come get me. It won’t take long,” Alastair says with a slight slur to his words.
I sigh, and give up on my plan of getting Tressa naked—at least for the time being. “Where are you?”
“Downtown. The Sizzle and Ale. Lena was working,” he adds with a bit of amusement. I can imagine him sitting at the bar, trying to make her smile. Alcohol has always affected him more than normal, especially when he hasn’t fed recently. He probably didn’t pay attention to how much he’d consumed whilehe sat there are tried to impress the pretty bartender he’s set his sights on.
I decide to take pity on him. “I'll be there in twenty minutes.”
“I owe you one. Thanks,” Alastair says before ending the call.
Tressa removes herself from my lap and I give her a frown. “You’re going back to town?”
I nod, sheepishly. “Yes, but it shouldn’t take long.” I give her a dark look of longing. “Will you wait up for me?”
She shakes her head. “Absolutely not. I’m going with you.”
