With such a big house, you’d think he’d have staff, but from what I can tell, he doesn’t.
I honestly don’t know much about Damien’s background, if he grew up rich or well-off, who his family is.
He plays all that stuff really close to the chest and always has.
He looks surprised when he sees me, his face lightening, a half-smile playing across his lips.
“Is something wrong at work or is this a social call?”
I flush, not sure how to tell him everything. “A social call. I wanted to talk to you.”
His smile fades into a frown as his brows furrow, and he moves aside to let me in.
I walk past him and look upstairs.
“Can I see the nursery?”
Damien brightens. “It’s all done now. I just got the walls painted. Green, is what the lady said, for unisex.”
I smile. “I’m sure it’s beautiful.”
He heads upstairs, and I follow and in fact, tears spring to my eyes when I see it.
There are dinosaurs and castles along the wallpaper in stencils, and the crib and changing table are pristine.
“Oh, it’s lovely, Damien.”
“You think so? I could have picked a yellow color?—”
I walk up to him, cutting him off with a kiss to his lips. “It’s perfect.”
He smiles against my lips, his arms going around my waist loosely.
I take a few steps back, biting my lip.
“Is something wrong? You’re acting like something’s wrong.”
“Not wrong, exactly. But you may be upset with me.”
He frowns. “I may?”
I bite my lip more, tasting iron. “I spent the night at Sebastian’s with him and Dominic last night.”
His face goes completely blank, and then he rubs a hand across his neck. “Oh. Okay.”
“Okay?”
His jaw works, and he shrugs. “Don’t know what else you want me to say.”
“Tell me how you feel?”
He looks down at me with intense eyes. Then he sighs. “That’s complicated.”
“Complicated how? Explain it to me.”
Damien paces around the nursery, looking distressed. “I mean, I’m a little jealous, but that’s what you’re trying to figure out, right? Which of us... fits? You can’t do that without experimenting.”
What if it’s not just experimenting? What if I want you all?
