“Of course, they’d show up together,” I mutter, not paying attention to who else is around me.

“Of course.”

The voice surprises me, and I look up to see Dominic, his brow furrowed as he glares at Damien.

“You, too?”

“I can’t fucking stand him.”

Oh? A common enemy?

Or areweenemies? The lines are getting pretty blurred, it seems.

“So, what do we do about it?”

Dominic shrugs as the meeting ends and everyone exits. He watches Olivia as she waits about three minutes before leaving after Damien.

Dominic’s eyes narrow. “There’s nothing we can do. He’s in the running for father of her baby, therefore, he’s in the running with her.”

“Well… we are, too, right?”

“She’s certainly not acting like it.”

There’s more than just insecurity lurking under Dominic’s thinly veiled hatred of Damien. There’s something like rage, and something tells me I don’t want to see that get out.

Dominic might be more dangerous than he seems, and all’s fair in love and war.

“So, then why don’t we play her game?” I suggest, and Dominic’s brown eyes shoot to mine.

“Her game?”

“She’s moving on, right? Exploring her options? Why don’t we do that? We have options.”

In fact, I have a backlog of numbers I haven’t dialed in a while...

But the way I’m feeling, I’ll need a drink or three to call them up.

“So what, we go out and pick up women?”

“Why not? What’s stopping you?”

His throat works. “I’m in love with her.”

Join the club.

But I’m not stupid enough to say that out loud.

I clap him on the shoulder. “Does it seem like she feels the same way?”

His face darkens, and I back away, but after a moment he nods fiercely. “You’re right. Where do we go to pick up women?”

“I know a couple of places.”

So, that’s how me and Dominic Hayes ended up going to a local club called Youth. The crowd is certainly young, closer to Dominic and Olivia’s age than mine.

But I’m branching out, right?

“How am I supposed to pick up women when I can’t hear myself think?” Dominic yells about an hour later.
