EVA

I should be scared, disturbed, disgustedby what I just witnessed, but for some reason, I’m not. Instead, I’m in awe.

The image of Axel, standing over Benny with the Chicago skyline behind him, voice threatening, but calm, deciding with absolute certainty whether a man lived or died. That kind of power should terrify me, but it calls to me, calls me to him.

I watch them walk up the slope towards us, their masks hanging by their side, carrying the remaining gear, the things that didn’t end up in the water alongside Benny’s body. Axel doesn’t look at me right away as he walks towards the car, discussing something with his brothers before looking in my direction.

Axel closes the distance between us, his eyes scanning my face like he’s searching for cracks. “You okay?” he asks, voice rougher than usual.

“I’m fine.” My gaze flicks to the splatters of blood on his jaw, the dark streak on his black shirt.

I don’t know what has come over me, but seeing him like that, after what he did for me, sparks a fuse inside. “I want you.” I tell him, my tone serious.

His brows furrow, like he doesn’t understand. “You have me, Eva. You’ll always have me.”

I shake my head, stepping closer until I can smell the metallic tang of Benny’s blood mixed with Axel’s scent. I rise on my toes, leaning close to his ear. “No, Axel. Iwantyou.” The words are heavy with meaning, and I step back down, seeing his eyes sharpen instantly.

Something dangerous sparks in them, a shadow darkening his features. Slowly, he turns his head towards his brothers. “Go with Ant,” he orders, his voice carrying the weight of command. “I’ll take Eva home.”

No one questions it as Gunnar, Flynn, and Carter exchange a look, a knowing smile on their faces as they climb into the back of Ant’s car, leaving Mandy and him upfront.

Mandy sticks her head out the passenger window, “Hey, Axel!” she shouts, catching his attention. “If you fuck this up, you’ll be going off that dock next.” She gives me a wink, just as Ant pulls away, his highlights disappearing as they drive down the road, leaving us alone.

The air between us is alive, charged, every second leaving room for temptation. I glance towards his red mask hanging by his side, a memory coming to mind.

“Put it on,” I demand.

For a moment, he stares at me. Then his mouth curves into something between a smirk and a threat. The mask slides over his face, erasing Axel and leaving only the shadow of him, the part the rest of the world should fear.

He’s moving me instantly, one hand gripping the back of my neck, the other on my hip, walking me backwards with force until my back hits the hood of the car with a hollow metallic thud. The cold shocks through me, but his hands are fire, dragging me with him until my legs part, allowing him closer.

His eyes hover inches from mine, glaring, unblinking—his gloved hand slides down, gripping the waistband of my jeans. The sharp rip of denim fills the air as he tears them apart, not bothering with the button or zipper.

A ragged breath escapes me. “Axel-”

“You want me?” his voice is low, all growl and grit, vibrating through the mask and into my skin.

“Yes,” I whisper.

“Then you take me like this.”

His hand pushes the shredded denim down, fingers slipping beneath the lace of my underwear without pause. His touch is rough, full of purpose, no teasing, just taking what is his.

He presses hard, two fingers sliding against my pussy, circling until my hips jerk up against his palm.

The mask tilts, his gaze locking on me as his other hand fists my hair, forcing my head against the hood. “Eyes on me,” he orders.

I stare into the glowing red as his fingers thrust deep, curling inside me with precision, his palm grinding exactly where I need it. The cold metal beneath me bites into my back with every movement, but the pressure of his body between my knees pins me in place.

Every sound I make is swallowed by the night, the soft wet slide of his fingers, the creak of leather gloves, the low hiss of his breath through the mask. I’m aware of everything: the smell of blood that clings to him, the way his body moves, the sharp edge of the car digging into me as he works me open.

“Fuck, you’re soaked for me already,” he growls, the mask making it darker, filthier. “You watched me end him, and it made you wet, didn’t it?”

A choked sound catches in my throat.

“That’s my girl.” His pace quickens, the heel of his palm pressing harder against me until sparks shoot up my spine.

I claw at his shirt, desperate, trying to pull him closer even though the mask stops his mouth from touching mine. The glowing red fills my vision, blocking out everything else around us.
