But I’m done waiting.

“I never meant to put any of you in this position,” she says again, but I shake my head.

“Madeline,” I say, my voice more firm than I feel. “I don’t care about any of that. All I care about is you. And I think it’s time we make it official.”

Her eyes flick to me, confusion clouding her face for just a moment. Henry and Daisy explain the entire situation to her.

“You can’t marry me out of obligation,” she gasps.

“Can I marry you because you are the love of my life?” I ask.

“Leo…” she whimpers.

“Henry, do I have your blessing?”

My future brother-in-law nods once before taking his husband’s hand.

Madeline is still talking about how we can figure something else out, but keeps quiet when I get down on one knee, right there next to the bed.

I pull out the ring I got on my way here and hold it out to her. The diamonds catch the light, just the way I’ve always imagined.

Asher chuckles and steps to the side, setting his phone down on the bedside table. “Well, if you’re asking her, I think we should all have a say in this.”

I glance up at Henry, and then Ford, Asher. They all seem to agree. All of them are standing a little too close, like they’ve been waiting for this moment too.

“Madeline, I love you. I’ve loved you longer than I knew what love was,” I say, the words coming out almost like they’ve been trapped in me forever. “When I got married the first time, I had doubts on whether it would work. I wondered whether I would have to sacrifice my work for my marriage or the future I was planning on. This is how I know this is different.

“It’s no contest what comes first for me, who comes first for me. You’re not just my lover, but you’re also my friend. There’s no one I care about more in this world, and I’m sure Asher and Ford agree, you are the best thing to have happened to any of us.

“I know this is rushed, but that’s how I’ve felt since I met you—completely unprepared. The day we met, this relationship, our love story. None of this was ever planned. This ring has three carats, one for each of us. Me and the two other men who love and adore you and who have allowed me the privilege of being the one you are legally married to. So baby, love of my life, mother of our children, I’m asking you right now. Will you marry me?”

Her eyes flash with something I can’t quite place… surprise, maybe? But then she bites her lip and looks down at the ring.

My heart squeezes in anticipation, waiting for her answer. My entire future hangs on this one moment. It’s everything.

Before she can speak, Logan is already in the middle of the room, his phone out, reading from some online script he pulled up.

“Alright, alright, Leo’s making his move. So, here’s the deal, Mads. You can either take Leo’s offer, or we’ll have to drag you to the courthouse in handcuffs. The choice is yours.”

I shoot Logan a glare, but it’s more amused than angry. Asher is chuckling too, and Ford’s eyes are twinkling.

This is real now. There’s no turning back.

Madeline looks at each of us, her gaze lingering a little longer on me. She takes a deep breath.

“I…” She stops herself, and for a moment, I think I’ve screwed this up. Then she looks at all of us, her eyes softening. “I love you all. I don’t know how this is going to work, but… yes. Yes, I’ll marry you.”

Logan, without missing a beat, pulls up the screen on his phone and says, “Alright then. We’re making this official.”

Before anyone can say anything more, Logan takes a step back, raising his hands like he’s about to conduct an orchestra.

“By the power vested in me by the fine state of… well, I can’t remember, honestly, but we’re going with it, I now pronounce you husband and wife.”

I don’t even care about the legalities at this point. All I care about is her. She’s mine now. In every sense of the word.

Madeline’s laugh breaks through the tension, light and melodic. She leans forward, and I kiss her, right there in the hospital bed, with the guys standing by like it’s the most normal thing in the world.

Nothing has ever felt more real than this.
