“So, if your date with the doctor goes well, you’ll have two men who are looking for the same thing you are.”
Olani nodded. While she’d received more surveys and looked them over, none of them had stood out to her the way the four she’d responded to had. Though the first two hadn’t been what she’d thought they would. However, she put aside a few surveys that were similar to the one that Xola had seemed interested in. Olani didn’t know whether her cousin would take her up onfilling out her own survey, but she would definitely have some options if she did.
“I’m in desperate need of a manicure,” Xola spoke, looking at her free hand. “You want to come with me?”
“Sure, when do you want to go?”
“We can go tomorrow. Make a day of it. Get mani-pedis, and have brunch. Too bad Kynlee isn’t back. We could invite her to come with us.”
Olani agreed. “Yeah, she’s been gone for a few weeks, but when she travels for work, I’m sure it always feels like a vacation. What about Sura? Is she free tomorrow?”
“No, she’s at a conference. So, it’s just the two of us tomorrow,” Xola took a drink from her glass. “We can go early for the mani-pedis and then catch a brunch special.”
“Sounds good to me,” Olani responded. “I’m staying here tonight. That way, we can Uber since I’m sure we’ll have more than one or two at brunch.”
“That’s fine.”
Olani rose from her seat, finishing her wine. She took her glass into the kitchen and washed it before placing it in the drying rack.
“I’m going to shower, and then we can watch a movie,” Olani said as she made her way down the hall. She stayed with her cousin enough that she had a few clothing items there.
Walking into the guest bedroom, she grabbed a pair of panties, a T-shirt, and shorts before taking them with her into the hall bathroom.
After showering and dressing, she entered Xola’s bedroom, grabbed moisturizer off her vanity, and used it. She could hear the shower running in her cousin’s bathroom, so she knew the other woman was in there.
Once she was done moisturizing, she returned to the living room, got comfortable, and began to look through movies forthem to watch. Knowing that as long as it didn’t have to do with a haunting, her cousin wouldn’t mind.

Olani looked herself over in the mirror. She was going out with Elion again, and he was taking her to a pottery studio. She’d opted to wear a pair of dark skinny jeans with rips at the knees and a pink top knotted at the side. She paired the outfit with black booties, diamond studs, and a pendant necklace. She’d chosen the outfit because she wouldn’t be upset if she got clay on her shirt and couldn’t wash it out.
Grabbing her purse, she exited her bedroom as she made sure she had everything. Once outside in her car, she placed the address into her GPS. Olani would admit that she hadn’t heard of where they were going, but there were always things people didn’t know existed in their cities.
Olani was sure Xola was more than likely already there, scoping things out. She was grateful her cousin insisted on ensuring she was safe, but Elion had informed her that he’dbooked one of the private rooms so they could talk without disturbing the beginner class that would be taking place while they were there.
Fifteen minutes later, she pulled into a small strip parking lot. Upon inspection, she noticed that every rented space taught a different creative class. There was a sign for painting with a twist, clay sculpting, glass blowing, and a few more.
As she exited her car, she saw Elion making his way toward the door of the clay sculpting class. He paused when he saw her, sending her a smile, and Olani returned it as she took him in. He was dressed in a pair of black jeans, a black T-shirt that hugged his biceps, and a pair of black boots. It contrasted what he’d worn on their first date, but Olani would be lying if she said she didn’t like it on him. The tattoos on his arms were on full display. It made him look the part of a rebel artist.
“You look beautiful,” Elion complimented her as a way of greeting.
“Thank you,” Olani responded, and before she could return the compliment, he spoke again.
“You ready to head inside?”
She nodded, and Elion opened the door, placing his hand on the small of her back and guiding her in. Olani hadn’t seen Xola’s car when she pulled up, mainly because she hadn’t been looking for it. Her suspicion was confirmed when she saw her cousin was already there with several other people for the beginner’s class.
When they walked through the door, the person that Olani assumed was the instructor approached them. He held his hand out to Elion, and the two shook in greeting.
“Elion, it’s good to see you again,” the man greeted him.
“It’s nice to see you as well, George. It’s been a while.” Elion then turned his attention to her. “Olani, this is George; he teaches the classes here. George, this is Olani.”
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you,” Olani greeted, holding her hand out to shake George’s.
“Believe me when I tell you that the pleasure is all mine,” George responded, taking her hand in his and bringing it to his lips.
“Be careful, George,” Elion warned the other man, and he removed Olani’s hand from his.
