“I’ll have a guava empanada and water.”

“Sure thing.”

They were given the total, and Elion stopped her when she tried to reach into her crossbody, paying instead. He told them he’d bring it to them in a moment, and they could choose a seat. He allowed Olani to pull him over to a nearby table and sat across from her.

“What time are we heading out tomorrow?”

“At ten-fifteen.”

He watched her think for a moment. He knew she was trying to guess what they would do based on the time they were leaving. She’d done the same thing the previous couple of days.

“Are we going jet skiing?” she asked. Elion shook his head. They were going jet skiing but not the following day. “Mm, give me a hint.”

He smiled at her. “Now, where would the fun be in that, Sweetheart?”

She gave him a playful little pout that quickly disappeared as their dessert and drinks were brought to them. They thanked him, and he watched her take a small sip of her latte.

“Coffee at ten-thirty at night, baby?” He’d thought about it when she ordered it, but he had said nothing.

“I need all the energy I can get tonight.”

“Oh? You plan on me wearing you out tonight?”

She smirked at him. “No, I plan on wearing you out.”

“I like the sound of that,” he responded.

When they finished their dessert, they hailed another cab and took the trip back to the hut. They walked through the front door fifteen minutes later, and Elion watched her place her purse on the dresser before entering the bathroom.

He pulled his wallet and phone from his back pocket and placed them on the dresser before sitting on the bed and removing his shoes. He heard the shower turn on as he pulled his shirt over his head. He tossed it into the laundry bag as Olani stepped into the doorway. She stood before him naked, and he took her in. If he’d thought it once, he’d thought it several times; he’d never tire of admiring her.

“Come join me. I want to start depleting your energy in the shower,” she told him with a sly smile.

Elion licked his lips as he stood, unbuttoning his shorts. She didn’t have to tell him twice, and he had every intention of letting her have her way.

Olani was getting dressed as she waited for Elion. They’d returned from their trip the previous week, and this was the first time they would see one another since. She’d had work to catch up on when she’d returned, and she was sure he did as well. He’d texted her earlier that day, asking if he could take her out. She’d instead volunteered to cook dinner for them.

Unlike all of their past dates, he hadn’t made it through the site, and she was acutely aware that it was because their twelve weeks were over. They both knew it, and she felt it was why he’d wanted to take her out. After twelve weeks, a decision was expected to be made about their relationship.

She couldn’t know for sure that was why, but she figured it was a conversation they should have in private, which was what led to her volunteering to make dinner. She’d made salmon with rice pilaf, asparagus, and a side salad and picked up a cheesecake for dessert. Everything aside from the salad and cheesecake wasplaced in the oven to keep warm while she showered and got dressed.

Olani re-pinned her natural hair and touched up the light makeup she’d worn to work before slipping her feet into her slippers. She entered her living room and turned on her sound bar, playing soft jazz throughout the area.

She entered the kitchen, taking the food out of the oven she’d set to warm and turning it off. She’d just taken down plates when there was a knock at her door.

When she opened it, she found Elion on the other side, a bouquet of roses in one hand, a bottle of wine in the other. She stepped aside to let him in, and he dropped a kiss onto her lips as he entered.

“Something smells good,” he stated, handing her the flowers.

She brought them to her nose briefly before responding. “Thank you. I’ll put these in water and get some glasses.”

Olani led him to the kitchen, where she pulled a vase from under the sink. She filled it with water and placed the roses inside before pulling down two wine glasses. While Elion filled those, she made their plates and put them on the table.

“It looks as good as it smells,” he complimented, and she smiled at him.

“Thank you.” She paused for a second. “Did you have a lot you needed to catch up on when we returned?”
