“You might be,” Lawrence threw back, but he had no intention of that happening.

While he’d topped more in his past relationships, there was something about bottoming to Remy, giving him that sort of control that appealed to Lawrence, but only with him. He couldn’t picture their dynamic in the bedroom the other way around, and he’d tried.

He was always satisfied with the way things worked for them. Did he think Remy would let him top if he wanted to? Yes. Did Lawrence see himself wanting to in the near future? No. He hadn’t realized how much being the center of attention, being a pillow prince when he wanted, appealed to him, and giving that up was the last thing on his mind.

Twenty minutes later, they were pulling up to a jazz club, and once inside, they found a table and ordered drinks.

After their first drink, Lawrence pulled him onto the dance floor as a soulful jazz rendition of “I Will Always Love You” began. They swayed to the music, the other couples on the dance floor falling away as if they were in their own bubble. Lawrence hummed along softly to the song. When the last note rang out, Remy kissed his lips softly.

“I love you.”

Lawrence smiled against his lips. “And I love you.”

They danced to another song before returning to the table and ordering another round of drinks. It would be his last since he was driving. They enjoyed the club's vibe for an hour and a half, dancing a few more times before they decided to leave.

Their last stop was a park a few blocks from Remy’s building. The night air was crisp and cool, but the snow they’d gotten a few days ago had been shoveled away, and the park walkways were clear.

They strolled around the park, allowing the night air to engulf them. While he’d only had two drinks at the club, his boyfriend had four. He knew it would take more than that to get him drunk, but Lawrence also knew that he was the energizer bunny with liquor in his system, and he already knew what was in store since they hadn't seen each other in a while; he didn’t need the liquor to help.

When they made it to Remy’s condo, Lawrence pulled him to the ensuite and started the shower. He began to undress his boyfriend first, taking in every inch of deliciously smooth walnut-hued skin as he revealed it. Once he had him completely naked, he stood there taking him in, and Remy let him, allowed him to get his fill.

He didn’t take nearly as much time removing his own clothes. When they were in the shower together, Lawrence couldn’t help but reflect on their relationship and how he’d almost fumbled the man who gave him everything he could ever desire in a relationship in and outside of the bedroom. All because he couldn’t reconcile the way he felt at first. He would forever be grateful that Remy hadn’t let him run and had made him face his feelings because they wouldn’t be where they were now. He wouldn’t be happy, in love, and more content than ever in any relationship.

Lawrence couldn’t have wished for anything better.

Epilogue

Lawrence sat beside Remy on the couch, stealing some of his fries. They were at Nik and Chayse’s after a night out celebrating the former’s birthday. They had dinner early in the evening, then went to a club for a few hours before spending a couple of hours atParadise 826.Afterward, they picked up some food and ended up where they were. It was three in the morning, and he knew they’d be leaving soon.

“Hey, Love. Come here for a minute,” Nik called from the balcony doors as Alijah returned. He’d disappeared from the group several minutes ago, and Lawrence didn’t remember Alijah going out there, but she must have. Chayse got up and headed his way, the two disappearing outside.

“Did you enjoy your anniversary, And?” Erin asked.

“I did. We stayed at the Surf & Sand Resort. There were a ton of amenities, and it was relaxing, even if Kieran almost got us kicked out one night.”

Kieran snorted. “No one threatened to kick us out, and if they had, it would have been your fault. You’re the one that couldn’t be quiet.”

“You’re the one that decided to try to play on the balcony,” Alijah shot back.

“You didn’t stop me,” Kieran countered.

“Anyway,” Alijah stated, rolling her eyes. “You guys should check it out sometime. I think you’d like it.”

Lawrence stole a few more of Remy’s fries while Erin began asking Alijah about the resort. In his defense, he’d had a little too much to drink, and the food was helping work that out of hissystem. He’d already eaten all his, and since Remy had ordered more food than him, Lawrence figured he wouldn’t mind sharing.

Nik and Chayse returned a few minutes later, and Lawrence’s eyes were immediately drawn to the large diamond on her finger. It seemed he wasn’t the only one.

“What is that?” Erin asked excitedly, pointing.

“Nik asked me to marry him, and I said yes.”

Erin got off the couch, picked Chayse up, and spun her around as she congratulated her, which caused the other woman to laugh, and the room joined in.

Congratulations went around, and Kieran joked about Nik proposing on his birthday, to which Nik stated it was the best present he could have gotten. After that, everyone left the happy couple to bask in their moment.

When they reached Remy’s condo, Lawrence went to take a shower while Remy went into the kitchen. His boyfriend joined him a few minutes after he’d gotten in, and once they were finished showering, they dried off and entered the bedroom. Lawrence found a bottle of pain medicine and a bottle of water on his bedside table. He hoped he wouldn’t be hungover in the morning but was grateful that Remy thought to ensure he had what he needed.

Once moisturized, Lawrence slipped on a pair of boxers and got into bed. He couldn’t wait until he was doing this every night, going to bed with the man he loved. Lawrence was aware he could let the last two months of his lease pass and stay with Remy while they did, but they’d set a timeframe, and there were things he needed to do, but he was more than ready.
